Army

We would run around with toy guns (or just sticks if there weren't enough) and argue wether or not people had been shot or not.

I shot you first!  Did not! Did to!  And on and on and on….then a new war would all start over.

Rogue Spear, and a few other similar games. I haven't played video games in the past 15 years or so. Well, I had a racing chair setup for Forza a few years ago. But my screen time is all youtube or arfcom these days.

I’m surprised more people didn’t say Medal of Honor Allied Assault. That game had me hooked.

I can't say MOH series because I was already in my 20's when it came out and this thread is for growing up FPS.

Having said that, I was a MOH player and not COD, and I logged countless hours playing it. I still turn on MOH multiplayer from time to time to check and see if anyone is playing.

Contra, but not FPS. FPS games did not start coming out until college and that was COD, then Battlefield up to BF5 and now back to COD.

Hell Let Loose.

I'm in my 50's, and gosh darn it, I'm still growing up.

In my youth, I played Platoon on Nintendo nonstop.  Then I bought a PS4 just so I could play Metal of Honor.  Bought the first 2 or 3 series of that game and mastered all of them.

Haven't touched a game until last month.  Now I'm on Hell Let Loose getting my old ass kicked by a bunch of kids.  LOL.   (I'm actually doing good at it.  Shotgun rules!!!)

If this is the one I’m thinking of, I could never get past the first level.   Their was was a little firing range and the drill sgt would tell you what to do.  If you didn’t do EXACTLY what he said you’d start over in an infinite loop.

This is America's Army.

America's Army was certainly the one I played the most of. I was in a clan and we played the competitive Team Warfare ladders and some other leagues. We had a member from NZ and I remember getting up at 3 am to play a competitive match vs a NZ team.

Such fun times but also such a waste of time. Insurgent camp with an m203 was the best. I could mortar m203 rounds into the small hole at the top of the main staircase where everyone thought they were safe.

MoH:Allied Assault is what got me started though. I still listen to the soundtrack.

This. Our fathers were WWII vets in most cases. But there was still a big WWII influence in society too. Movies, tv, toys, games.
