My Grandmother always said that everything happens for a reason. As a young man I had a hard time understanding that, but as I've gotten older I've begun to understand the wisdom in her sayings. She was a pretty smart lady after all. |

They made Auburn's team look like a bunch of homeless drunks last week. Beat us like a bunch of red headed step children. Then we bounced back and humiliated South Carolina, and then got beat tonight by Kentucky. What a year. |

I couldn't tell you how often I think about something one of them told me, but I can't remember the specifics. |

My mom's grandmother was still alive when I was born, so I do recall being around her just vaguely, but the others were long gone by then. I think she passed away when I was 4 or 5 years old. Thinking back, her daughter, my grandmother (mom's mother) was still alive until my kids were 9 or 10 years old, so they were fortunate enough to remember her. I guess that's probably not very common now that I think about it, unless you're talking certain areas where women have 5 kids by the time they're 18 years old. Not gonna name any areas.... |

There's a country music song playing on the radio right now by Thomas Rhett called Mamaw's House, and one of the lines in the song says "She'd ask if I was hungry every thirty seconds". I swear, the first time I heard it, I wondered how he actually knew my grandmother! My grandmother did it and damn if my mom doesn't do it too. Mom is 79 years old now, still works in the daycare at their church, and damn if every single morning I don't get a text from her asking "Is there anything I can do for you today?" I doubt there will ever be another generation like those folks. |
