Samyang isn't too bad for instant ramen.

Nothing compares to authentic Japanese ramen though.

I ate a lot of Roman Numerals when I was in my early 20's.  I don't remember the brand(s)

When I ate them, the cup o noodles.

With the packs, I would do the block in a skillet with a little water. Once the noodles softened, would use about 1/4 of the seasoning packet and some sesame oil.

I "discovered" ramen in Korea in 1971. Figured, correctly, it hadn't reached grocery shelves
in the U.S. yet so I shipped two cases home. Allowed myself one package per month until
I ran out.

There are actually some legit answers in this thread.  My personal favorite is Indomie Chicken Curry

Either pork or Beef. I cut them with a scissors and drain most, but not all the water out. I like a little broth. I add way too much coarse ground black pepper.

Enough sodium in one serving for a whole week, but they are good.
View Quote
Ditto on the sodium, way too much.

I throw in the flavor packet in boiling water, and put in whatever leftovers, warm. Then cook the noodles in the flavored water because the noodles absorb the flavoring. I then eat the noodles etc, and I throw out the water.

I don't drink the water created by the flavor packet because of the sodium.

Maruchan creamy chicken. Add retort pouch of chicken or tuna. Slice of American cheese, if I'm at home.

This combo is a great backpacking meal.

Nissin raoh umami tonkonstu flavor. Doctor it up with the right stuff and it's pretty damn legit. The noodles have a nice chew and the birth is thicker and has a nice oil to it. It's the most legit instant ramen I've had.

Mama brand and prima are killer brands and all are good

Sometimes it's the cheapest chicken-flavored ramen at King Stoopids.

Other times, I go to the Asian grocery and just buy a bunch of random stuff.

I try to eat better than that.
Roast Beef flavored Maruchan churched up with a hard boiled egg, some green onion, and a little green cabbage was fine eating when I was younger though.

Just about any instant ramen can be made edible with the right doctoring.
But nothing tastes as good as Real ramen, Local place to me, down town Lawrence KS.
Ramen Bowls. This is their Double soup, made with Thin noodles, combination pork and chicken broth,
two slices pork belly, corn, braised egg, garlic, fried leeks, scallions and seaweed:

I posted this almost identical thread a long time ago. Never heard of Nongshim Shin Black until that thread. It's now my favorites. Maruchan Chicken or Oriental as backup.

ETA Top Ramen used to be good but sucks now for some reason. I like trying random weird ones from Asian markets, too. Those mentioned above are ones I consistently have on hand

Maruchan beef or shrimp flavor if I'm out of beef.

I add in granulated garlic, onion powder, crushed red pepper, and a little chicken bullion.

I have a package or 2 at work every week.

I usually just make them with hot water in the microwave, throw out  about 1/3 of the noodles, then add the other 2/3 and eat them before they absorb too much of the water.

The more "expensive" ramen seems to have better noodles. Right now I like that spicy challenge ramen, though I only use about 3/4 of the hot spicy pack, and make it the usual way with about 2 cups of broth. I recently got the nongashim black, really doesn't seem much better than the red to me.

If you’re over 30 and eating ramen, then you better be Asian.
