View Quote Love that gun! Do you carry it or keep it in the safe? I’d keep it in the safe. Awesome! |

Quoted: I have several Colts but my favorite is this Series 70 reproduction. Bought it new at the MCX on Parris Island and started making a set of elk horn grips before my last move. This has been on the back burner for a while but I need to dig it out and finish them. https://i.imgur.com/BCXQYAuh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tKMtIEvh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/F3ifBw9h.jpg https://i.imgur.com/MNtLxb2h.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WvwrKQWh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oXZTI1xh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/9lPjgk2h.jpg View Quote Is that stainless steel? Maybe it's the lighting, but it has the same copper/tan hue that my 1982 electroless nickel 1911 has. It was how the Colt Custom shop was doing it back then. An absolutely beautiful finish unlike any electroless nickel I've seen before. |

A Colt 1860 Army revolver. My Dad found it at a garage sale 2 years ago in an old cigar box, in pieces. He bought it for $2.00! He asked me to find a way to assemble it and see if it worked. I thought it was a replica until I got it home and started looking at it closely. It is an all numbers matching Colt Army .44 made in 1862 with a serial number of 35,xxx. All the parts were there but the hammer was broke at the pivot.
I went to Old Arms of Idaho and got a new old stock hammer and fixed it. When I took it back to him he said I could have it. The finish is mostly gone and I wouldn't want to fire it, but that's ok, it will remind me of my Dad (he's 93). I plan on keeping it and putting it in a wall display case and hopefully passing it on to my kids. ETA: link to photo https://imgur.com/vyxXnhG |

I've had a few slip through my hands. Python, First year AR-15A2, AR-15A2-HBAR, CAR-15, two Kings modified Commanders, all were great firearms. Shortly after that, I never sold another gun. Today my favorite is a stainless Commander 9mm. My least favorite is my Stainless GoldCup, not a very good shooter and it was sent back to Colt, they replaced the receiver and it still shoots poorly.

Quoted: Colt 1905 .45acp, predecessor to the 1911. This is a very early one with the slab hammer and cut for the shoulder stock. Neat serial number as well, 1234. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/54333/1920C05E-90D8-4F05-B237-C40D3D99BD1E-1619923.jpg View Quote @BM-ARM-DPMS-guns Love it! Quoted: @BM-ARM-DPMS-guns Love it! One of those is on my short list to get. View Quote Thanks. Over the years I ended up getting two of them. The one shown is in nice shape but has the typical stress crack near the front of the slide, at the cross pin cutout. The other one is a bit better, more conventional hammer and not cut for the shoulder stock. |
