Illinois has two state fairs.

Can't blame the down staters, the fair in Springfield should be called the InnerCity Fair, despite the ag parts.

Missouri is crippled by St. Louis City and St. Louis County. I'm not sure they add any benefit to the rest of the state. Maybe Barnes hospital.

So far St. Charles county serves as a conservative bulwark to the west, but it could be losing ground to the continuing 40 year flight from the east.

Jackson County and Kansas City cripple that region, but nowhere to the extent of the malaise that permeates the St. Louis region.
