Lots of good stuff for that money, and the market is profoundly retarded at the moment.  Like put that 150k somewhere it will get 7 - 12 pct return and wait a year for correction.

That number gets you a nice used R8 V10 2015 or so.  Back when VW was out Lamboing, lamborghini.   Corvette's of various make including ZL can be had in that range, their value over time is more questionable than the R8.

911 4S or a used 911 turbo is right around that mark.

As others are mentioning the cost of maintaining these cars is significant, even when there isn't a specific issue.  Tires, consumables, windshields damaged in chips, door dings, bent rims are all much much more expensive for these cars.  Brakes can be a shock with carbon ceramics.

I won't shit on a tesla, but it's not a aficionado vehicle.  It's fast but there is something to be said for the sounds and driving dynamics of a well set up sports car.

good luck OP

Unless you are on a Z06 list already, finding a new C8 Z06 @ MSRP will be near impossible and that $150k probably wont buy one for the first 2 years they are out. Porsche market is equally insane right now with the Turbo S and GT cars being even more.  You can find a used 991.2 GTS for around $120ish give or take, but the new 992 cars are just nuts. I saw a base 2020 911 C2 for $140k at a dealer when I was looking recently. Had some nice options but my goodness it was a lot for a base. I ended up overpaying for a 2014 991.1 car with a warranty rather than really overpaying for a used GTS.  I will upgrade to a GTS once the market settles back down. That's not going to happen until there are more New cars than buyers, so keep that in mind.

The C8 market price is ridiculous, there's obviously too much money floating around if people are paying $200K for that thing.

I wanted a C8, talked to my local dealer who had 2 on the showroom floor. One was $30k over MSRP the other was $50k and they wouldn't even talk to me when I offered 10 percent over. I looked at used ones that were still over msrp with 7000 miles on the clock and odd color combos and options. I think the correction on those C8's is going to be substantial and that extra money people spent buying them in this market wont be factored in. There are going to be some sorry people when those $100k base vettes are worth half what they paid when they want to trade in.

There are still some MSRP dealers taking deposits on a Z06. But it’s a many years long wait at this point.

$50k over sticker will probably get some a car relatively quickly. So the car could be had for $140-150k. But that would be crazy.

Thankfully I lucked out and got a good spot on a preorder list from one of the big MSRP dealers. But yeah anyone who is just now coming to this party either has to have a lot of patience or money to piss away.

That doesn't make them a dime a dozen.

It's also not apples to apples since the Viper stopped production in 2017.  Viper had a production run of 25 years and the 911 is nearly 60 years of production.

That's kind of a meaningless statement.  I can think of lots of cars that are rarer than 911s.  After all, 911s ARE a realistic daily driver, compared to most other hardcore sports cars.  I am not sure ANYONE daily drives a Lambo or Ferrari.

911s are everywhere COMPARED to Ford Model A's as well.   Doesn't mean the Model A is a great car, and it doesn't mean 911s are "a dime a dozen"

I live in one of the highest-income counties in the U.S. (with two of the other top-five counties within spitting distance), and I might see ONE other 911 if I am out driving ... to say they are a dime a dozen is silly, IMO.

you don't like near a hospital eh?

I see like 3-4 911s daily in my little ass town of 25,000

I do live by the hospital though.

Here's some fun facts about near me cars that I at least see weekly

a few 991 911 carerras
a 992 911 targa
some dude has an old black aircooed 911 in town, either a 964 or 993, I can't really tell, I've never been that close to it
a couple 996 911s
Maserati Gran Turismo llike a 2018
some surgeon has a AMG GT-C
BMW i8
My neighbor has am F80 BMW M3
also a brand spanking new Porsche Cayman 718
someone has a white Aventador in town
Ferarri 360 silver one

it's funny because all of these cars are daily driven

I wonder if that's how they recruit MDs to this hospital?

They go to Cars and Coffee meet ups and recruit the docs from tehre?

between all the attorneys in town and the docs and the financial bros in town, you would lost count over the 100k SUVs and Sedans. And god forbid oil goes $100 a barrell, then it just get's stupid.

Alfa 8c competizone. Pretty damn rare.

I'll add manual Ferrari F430 and if its possible to find, a Ferrari 599 GTB.

Nothing new strikes me lately. Ferdinand's are unobtanium with price and with how common
and bland they are here in South Florida I'll pass.

C8 vette wrapped in a dark grey and lowered Or maybe an AMG GT would be my current pick.

Porsche and Viper get my vote for OP wants unique and new.

For not so unique looking at Corvettes like ZR1s or Z06s or new (GT500 or Camaro ZL1 1LE even if not a classic "sports car")

Then there is restomods...

Unique, old, but potentially able to hold up handling wise to just about anything on the road, within reason.

Something like a Roadster Shop or Schwartz Performance under the body of whatever muscle car of your choice will be a helluva thing.

The suspension under my 66 Mustang has it handling/cornering better than my 2015 GT Perf Pack.   It is probably a low 12 second car on 225/45 17 tires but it is not built for 1/4 mile passes.   It is absolutely stupid with 400+ hp and a 5spd and a 3.5 rear gear and trutrak.   No traction control or ABS and yet it shits and gets.

Might not meet the classic definition of a sports car but it is a nasty fuckin car.   Seeing footage of cars similarly equipped to mine keeping up with modern GT350s is impressive.

I will say it may draw more attention than I typically see from 911 or other sports car.   I have been recorded or had pictures taken while driving it several times in the past few months.
Like people catching up through traffic and clearly holding phones out the window.

Possibly another thing to consider for OP depending on what he picks.
Some vehicles are weiner magnets and may bring attention you dont want.

The cars in town that get my attention are any GT350/GT500 because I am a mustang nut.

I want to hump the legs of any of the 4 chicks I have seen driving GT350s.

I am even bigger Porsche fan but if I bought a 911 it would be my one baby that I would be afraid to drive like it was meant to be driven.

I also know of two asian chicks in town that are driving around GT3 Touring variants.   God damn...

My budget was a 1/3 of yours, but got this a few weeks ago as a Christmas gift to myself for just under 50k.  Porsche 981 Cayman S, the last of the NA flat 6 engines.  My opinion Caymans are better then 911s, mid engine and the S and GT Caymans have slightly detuned 911 engines that you can retune and have a superior car for half the price.
