My wife's car - may be more fun to have folks guess. I'd wager for the right car buff it'll take about 2 trys. ;)

Quoted: wow I knew the viper numbers were low...but not that low View Quote Yup… don’t have the total handy but the entire run of Vipers from 1992 to 2017 is about 30k… or less than a single year of Corvette production. How many survive is another question? In that list where you see very small numbers, those are holdovers from previous model years. There were no Viper models for 2007, 2011, 2012 and the line stopped for good in 2017. Why did it end? A variety of factors but the Hellcat is one. They also had a “packaging issue” that limited transmission options and thus additional engine upgrades. They really wanted to consider an automatic transmission to broaden the appeal but it wasn’t going to fit without a lot of rework. Anyway, great cars, rare and only increasing in value. Lots of garage queens to be had and more than a few rebuilt multiple times The Gen V (2013-2017) was certainly the nicest by a good margin with the leather interior and electronic upgrades. Gen 4 (2008-2010) are similar but no electronics to speak of but antilock brakes and a nice but not fancy interior. |

Quoted: To be honest...I would buy 2 2005+ Viper AMG GT-R Those are going to turn more heads and give you more fun that any 911, since all 911 fuckin look like every other boxster and 911 on the road. View Quote Many of us drive sports cars for the way they drive, not who looks at us. I've got an old air cooled 911 that isn't terribly fast, but handles great. I'd just dump more money into my old car and maybe buy a 914 to restore and put a 911 motor in it. |

Oh, and 99.9% of those turning heads are male anyway. Trying to impress others with a car is lame as hell imo. |

Vipers are basically the car that “car guys” describe when asked what they want. Just a raw beast with “no nanny bullshit.”
But when it was available none of them bought it |

Quoted: My budget was a 1/3 of yours, but got this a few weeks ago as a Christmas gift to myself for just under 50k. Porsche 981 Cayman S, the last of the NA flat 6 engines. My opinion Caymans are better then 911s, mid engine and the S and GT Caymans have slightly detuned 911 engines that you can retune and have a superior car for half the price. https://flic.kr/p/2mWwwYS https://flic.kr/p/2mWrBaZ https://flic.kr/p/2mWrBbf View Quote GT4 is the last of the flat 6's for the cayman line... |

Quoted: That's kind of a meaningless statement. I can think of lots of cars that are rarer than 911s. After all, 911s ARE a realistic daily driver, compared to most other hardcore sports cars. I am not sure ANYONE daily drives a Lambo or Ferrari. 911s are everywhere COMPARED to Ford Model A's as well. Doesn't mean the Model A is a great car, and it doesn't mean 911s are "a dime a dozen" I live in one of the highest-income counties in the U.S. (with two of the other top-five counties within spitting distance), and I might see ONE other 911 if I am out driving ... to say they are a dime a dozen is silly, IMO. View Quote I know someone who DD's a Lamborghini Huracan which is AWD even here in Montreal winters. Some new AWD Ferrari's also. |

Quoted: Vipers are basically the car that “car guys” describe when asked what they want. Just a raw beast with “no nanny bullshit.” But when it was available none of them bought it View Quote Yes please... I was 90% of the way towards buying a Type 65 Coupe for the dart based 331 sitting in my garage. Being in Ca and trying to get an SB100 smog exemption was questionable in 2015. I was starting to look at options like a 996/997 911 but mileage and history was sketchy. I was looking at Gen 3 and Gen 4 Vipers but they were just beginning to go back up in value. Also potential for sketch history. Wound up getting an S550 GT when I wanted a GT350. Bad compromise that I only know now 6 years later with barely 14k miles on the car. Was looking at 12-13 Boss 302s as well as C6 grandsports as well, think either of those would have made me happier. The 66 is the unsophisticated angry asshole of a car I wanted with the Type 65 Coupe build I was considering. I am just heavier wirh the 66 Coupe versus a 65 Daytona. I should have just pulled the trigger back then on a 65-70 Mustang and gone Maier Racing or other options to start building what I lusted for. Options were not as good in 2015 as today so probably best that I waited. Hoping to some day find a 69/70 sportroof and do it all over again with same suspension but with a 351 based stroker and 315s on all 4 corners. |

Viper -
Pulled up to a red light on a viper in my dodge caravan minivan with 4 kids, some in car seats, many years ago. Started to rev my 2006 3.8 L EGH V6 engine and make eye contact with the guys in the viper. Viper dudes respond in kind, rev their engine. Kids were having a blast with the idea of a race. Green light I launch that caravan off the line. Dodge Viper dude dumps the clutch and stalls the car. Kids are ECSTATIC as we pull away leaving them in the dust... |

Ducati Panigale V4 Superleggera.
234hp. This is on a bike with a claimed 336lb dry weight thanks to carbon fiber frame, wheels, swingarm and bodywork plus a bunch of magnesium and titanium bits. I'd use the leftover money for gear (including bespoke Dainese leathers, natch), a bunch of tires and consumables, and a trailer to get it to track days. Attached File |

You'd be cool in the 60's driving around in one of these. Probably still be cool driving around making people wonder what it is. |

Should save more to get something decent instead of some crap for 150k. Like a nice Lamborghini Aventador, 2022 models start out around 500k. Or get a nice electric like the Lotus Evija around 2.3 million.

To all the plaid people... Can the plaid stay on a track for more than 15 minutes without a 20 minute recharge while pushing hard? will the brakes not over heat on the second lap? the batteries? can it exceed 150mph? How does it handle at high speed in corners?

Quoted: I asked a similar question 5 years ago. What could I get that was the most fun, best handling, fastest with a manual transmission (a must). My budget was $100,000, about the same as today when you consider the premiums dealers are asking and getting. A new 2017 C7 Zo6 Zo7 was a touch over my budget but well worth it. It is not a daily but now has 96,000 miles, lots of track days and a shit ton of fun times with it. If I could do it over I wouldn't do anything different. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/109231/20181028_132141-1941287.jpg View Quote I would say a C7 also. ZR1 maybe. |
