I always was fond of the Perry Rhodan Series spaceships.
Five miles of armor and guns. Yes, it can split into three ships. BTW, Perry Rhodan started publishing in 1964 and is currently on book # 2633. Eat that Star War Trekkies. TYCOM |

Screw the jap version, the Americans did it better in this case. Force of Arms stands to date as one of the most gripping and emotional scifi episodes I've ever seen. Compared to its scope and character development, BSG isn't even visible.
The main battle starts around the halfway mark, but I urge any viewer to not skip forward. There are some extremely powerful scenes in the first half as well as important context.

The outstanding voice cast is one part, but the other is around 6:30. Not just the attack scene, but there's one particular moment in it which most people who've seen the series often refer to as uniquely startling for any genre or medium.

The ship in "Fantastic Voyage" was called the Proteus and did not look like that.
