Somebody needs to make a good film adaptation of Fred Saberhagen's BERSERKER.

Really hard to choose one, but this would have to be #1 on my list. |

Looks like a General Products hull Sure does. ETA: I wonder if Louis Wu is in there. A number 2 if I'm not mistaken. ETA: First one looks like the "Skydiver" and the second I believe is "Infinity" if memory serves. Second one is "Lying Bastard"... not "Slower than Infinity". Man, it's been a while. Gotta dig those books up again. |

Loved that show. I wish it were still airing new episodes. |

... can't sneak anything past you guys. Nope. I was reading Niven before a lot of the youngin's on this board were born. This is by far the coolest "space ship" of scifi... http://www.orbitalvector.com/Megastructures/Ringworlds/Ringworld-small.jpg http://www.celestialmatters.org/users/rthorvald/wallpaper/th_lying_bastard.png My desktop wallpaper, as a matter of fact. |

Of course, the ONLY possible answer is this. http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn40/bub75/battlestar_galactica.jpg Which one of your piddly, measley ships can survive the end of your civilization, survive several point-blank nukes, fight several major battles, jump into the atmosphere of a planet, launch it's fighters, drop almost 100,000 feet while burning up, then proceed to jump back out, fight a major battle, survive (albeit with MAJOR, but not incapacitating damage), then proceed to fight some major battles for another year or better, all with NO major maintenance or refit in 3 or 4 years? http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn40/bub75/animaniac_bsg_12_1280x960.jpg End of frackin' thread! Bub75 Challenge accepted. |

Mal Reynolds would kick Han Solo's nuts up into his throat. You know how we know that you have a case of the ghey? |

Cygnus, maybe http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/image/article/106/1068184/the-black-hole-remake-20100210105614387.jpg I had the Cygnus up in Google Images while browsing to see if it's been posted yet. The final scene from DYRL is probably one of my favorite moments in Sci-Fi. As for the Pegasus, can it do this? Macross Quarter surfs the atmospheric re-entry on debris |

Quoted: Screw the jap version, the Americans did it better in this case. Force of Arms stands to date as one of the most gripping and emotional scifi episodes I've ever seen. Compared to its scope and character development, BSG isn't even visible. The main battle starts around the halfway mark, but I urge any viewer to not skip forward. There are some extremely powerful scenes in the first half as well as important context. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApjsuGBVeh4 |

The outstanding voice cast is one part, but the other is around 6:30. Not just the attack scene, but there's one particular moment in it which most people who've seen the series often refer to as uniquely startling for any genre or medium.

Didn't see it yet, so.. Andromeda: http://www.sffchronicles.co.uk/forum/attachments/13294d1165040916-best-sci-fi-starship-designs-gallery-shipext14.jpg That is a cool ship. Too bad the show went from making sense to being the Kevin Sorbo Power Hour after season 1. |

Traveller had some great ships. I wish someone would do a decent PC game based on it. http://www.freelancetraveller.com/features/gallery/mag/types/42-scoutcutspecs.jpg Oh man does that bring back memories! |

WIN. with all 8 highslots firing..... |

The ship in "Fantastic Voyage" was called the Proteus and did not look like that. ETA: Interesting. I did not know about the Animated TV Series. |

Why the hell don't these "advanced" fighters have cockpits that allow the pilots to see 360? We learned that lesson in WW2 with the P-51 and P-47, you think the future rocket scientists would have known this also.... As for the thread, I always liked the original TIE fighters. The Star Wars ships were from the past, not the future, |
