Thanks for the heads-up.
There are toward the end of season 1 episodes that set up season 2. But he is correct, season 2 is when it really starts getting good and then it just gets better and better until the end.

I am pretty sure Commodore Pike was the last person in Star Fleet to believe in the free market.

I was thinking about that after I saw this thread pop up - you're right Kahn actually gave a shit about his crew and humanity.  The wrong side won the Eugenics Wars and drove the planet right into WW3.  It wasn't just a few dozen millions that died either, they covered up the genocide of Asia and Africa.  Think about who you see in the Star Trek shows and how that corresponds with current demographic trends.

I wouldn't serve under the Federation in any fucking way.
I chose the warcriminal Maxwell, and you come in here with blackjack and hookers.  The guy who tried to stop a galactic war by shoving a remote control up the butt of a zombiefied enemy leader.

Think it through, Clark was being mind controlled, and his drunken scribble sheet was his last way of saving the Earth from a Drakh hissy fit.  I contend Morgan Clark did his best to arm Earth with advance technology, ride out a galactic war as a neutral power, and not interfere with Sheridan's war effort - all while coping with an internal genocidal terrorist organization that could literally read minds and change thoughts.

He was in two episodes.  One of which he just sat there and beeped.  Not enough material to really judge him.

Speaking of Babylon 5 - I'm watching A Voice in The Wilderness part 1 from season 1.

I just watched the part where Garibaldi had asked the psycop Talia Winters to check on his friend back at Mars were fighting had broke out between the Mars first and the Earth Alliance.

He was sitting at a bar having a glass of water - cuz we know he was an alcoholic- and Londo came up to him to cheer him up with a story about a stripper that Londo ended up marrying.

I was laughing my ass off when Londo told the story and it just showcases the excellent writing and character interaction that was prevalent throughout the entire series.

In a world with matter replicators / transporters that are powered by matter-antimatter reactors, what type of economic system makes sense?

Nothing like we know now. The only scarcity is land and life experience, but with holodecks, warp drive and terraforming, even location and life experience seem not to be scarce.

In that economy, what is trade based on? How is there a basis for currency?

In such a hypothetical utopia, it is not hard to imagine "the betterment of ourselves" being among the few worthwhile challenges (to include space exploration) outside of a holo-videogame.

It will not and can not exist.  Real people are more like the Ferengi(sp?)  then they are the humans in Star Trek.  That is why communism (though a good concept) does not work as it's designed and always fails.

First of all, what's with you and your fucky quote style?

Second, your supposed exception proves it. Part of the Keeper was killed, weakening it's control and allowing him to kill himself.

That's the same thing Londo did with alcohol.
