My favorite are made by LMT.  I like the LMT BUIS better than the KAC.

If you want the Troy ones but don’t want to support them, look for some CZ Bren 805 flip ups. They’re nearly identical.

Grabbed both of my sets from RTB during sales for not much more than the cost of Magpul Pros.

KAC with the big ol' knob or even LMT if you can actually find one.

Scalarworks has a set due to come out that look pretty good too.  Expensive, but they appear to be about as lo-pro as possible.

I got the Troy battle sights a long time ago because this place said they were the best.

That was before they got stupid and have been shunned

When you say nicer than magpul, do you mean the plastic ones or the metal ones (pro)?

On a whim I bought a set of KRISS sites and like them.  I needed something low profile and these fit the bill.  They are also metal, which is nice.  No idea how sturdy they are since I just put them on and haven't sighted them in yet.

https://store.kriss-usa.com/steel-low-profile-rear-flip-sight/

I found them locally at a good price.

TROY is the best. I don't care that the GD has their panties in a bunch over them. I don't give a shit.

Why does the rear sight look so much taller than the front sight? Doesn't even look close to being on the same plane.

Looks longer than it is because it has no girth.

Their older models were pretty crude looking but their new Combat Sights are really nice.

KAC seems to be the best for me at distance but magpul pros are close enough for half the cost.

Edit
Scar sights are the best though

The same could really be said for any BUIS that isn't the OG Magpuls.    Some people just like nicer things.

All of mine are Troy, I got a few sets for a really good price about 10 years ago, and nothing else has really come close, quality wise.

I am going to check out a set of Griffin Armament sights though, those intrigue me with how easy they are to set up at 45 degrees.

If these don't come in a flip up, maybe 45 deg will fit the backup sights role?

I've used KAC on work rifles, but prefer Magpul Pros over the KACs.

I know that will irritate the "it's better because I spent an unnecessary amount of money on it" crowd.

As often as BUIS are going to be called upon, and the types of shots you'll want to make, you're probably better served buying a Magpul set and a skinnier front post and putting the extra $ into making sure the primary optic doesn't fail.

Also, this.

I've never "needed" my BUIS.
