I don't give a shit what happens in Sweden. Nor will I opine in a thread started about the latest there. Foreigner's fascination with America is something I find interesting. Swede, I apologize.
Apparently some of my "murican" countrymen can't be bothered to google up the fact New York City began in 1665. Hard to imagine that faggotry has been going on for 350 years. It was a haven of Tories during the Revolution and hasn't changed much since. |

It's not ideological. There aren't that many more people who are ideologically committed to leftism than there were in the 40s and 50s. There might even be less. It's just economic pragmatism. we are not great anymore because most Americans are fucking leftists who are looking for a handout and vote for pieces of shit like the asshole in the Whitehouse who has no respect for our military and our place in the world as a superpower !!! he also runs up record debt giving these assholes the handouts they long for while shitting all over people who work for a living mean while giving rights to fucking illegal aliens .... It's not ideological. There aren't that many more people who are ideologically committed to leftism than there were in the 40s and 50s. There might even be less. It's just economic pragmatism. America was great because America was moral.....
This Constitution was written ONLY for a moral and religious people and is wholly unsuited to govern any other. John Adams. So, right off the top I'm going with..... Lincoln attacking South Carolina. When politicians and those that support them discovered they could write themselves checks. When Teddy Roosevelt became a progressive. Communist progressives began infiltrating our universities in the 1920's. Woodrow Wilson was a huge douche. Income Tax and Social Security Amendments. But the straw that broke the camels back was the invention of Television and specifically Ed Sullivan and the Beatles. Yeah, that last part is serious. My parents were right. |

We are not free anymore.
We are completely controlled by the gov. and by lawyers. Political correctness is ruining us. Most of America would rather watch reality TV instead of actually live a life of their own. Parents are letting the gov. raise and teach their children. Huge mistake. |

It is still great when compared to the rest of of the world, but it should not even be comparable.
Would be a lot better if it was still a Constitutional Republic. |

The country is still as great as it ever was. My issue is with the idiots that reside within it and are doing whatever they can to ensure a stable majority.

A combination of most of what people have said, except for Swede. It wasn't America at that point...

Since so many here feel the USA is not a great country, what country is? One of then has to be since we are not. Right? I mean if you feel it is no longer great, then who is? And since do not feel that it is great, when would you say it stopped being great? What caused it and when? 2012 when they elected that shit bird a second time liberalism... when people stopped being responsible for themselves, and blame all their problems on others. then expect the gov to solve all their problems for them. we stopped working to be better people and work for a better life..... instead now everyone is a victim of some sort, and demand passes because they were offended for some weak assed reason. |

"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"... has turned into..... " what will politicians do for me, me me me me me me me me me"

America is great. However, one of it's most endearing qualities is not the amount of self congratulation that is expected in certain circles pertaining to our greatness.
Walk softly and carry a big stick, words of wisdom to be sure, has all but been forgotten. |

USA is great. The resilience of our people stands as testimony for why the economy is doing as best it can DESPITE Zero's policies.
If we can get the communists/progressives out of the White House, EPA, IRS and other federal agencies, the American people will bounce back, despite the 49% FSA leeches. If we can achieve some sort of cultural change to the brainwashed graduates; welfare reform to the multiple generations of professional welfare rats; and eject the illegals who suppress wages, our economy would soar. |

We are /were great.
Put it this way, we have one political party masquerading as two. Deep corruption from the white house, through the Legislative branch to the "agencys that create "law" via polict/rules. The party we elected and the people who ran on the platform of cleaning things up a little... did NOTHING. 1/3 of Trump voters are not voting for the RINO/GOP/Throwing the election to Hildawitch party because of it. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-republicans-poll-idUSKCN0X60B3 The .gov machine and their foot soldiers are out of control. I'm voting Trump. We/ He'll either put the establishment or hasten the downfall. Screw it. burn it down and roll out the guillotines. The old Europeans had it right, come a change in power they eliminated the old politicians, their bureaucracys and familys. I don't care anymore. |

We are still the best, but not what we were IMO. What makes countries great is culture. It takes certain cultural preconditions for rule of law. Countries that lack those cultural preconditions are banana republics at best. However, cultures decay, for a number of reasons. I would say that part of our cultural decay is due to the social programs put in place in the '30s and '60s. When big government acts like daddy, the culture decays. Immigration from various banana republics adds to that. The success of the left in media and education and entertainment since the 60s (and even earlier) have also added to that. These different drivers of cultural decline are coming to a head, which was obvious in the 2012 election as well as the current election. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

These different drivers of cultural decline are coming to a head, which was obvious in the 2012 election as well as the current election. i think a huge part of our decline, is, in a large part, because we no longer have anything tieing everyone together. america is like being on a team, the citizens are players, and we NEED to feel like we are part of a team, and our team is #1, and fuck everyone else.... we work hard to be a team, we have cohesion, we stick together. now we have none of that.... we are divided at every turn. you cant have kids say the pledge of allegience anymore... that one thing, helped instill the idea we are a group, a country, it brought blacks, whites hispanics, etc together. we are a big family. were americans, were the USA ! the idea america is great, is being stomped out at every turn. now instead of us being encouraged to be part of the team. now everyone on the team, is doing their own thing, going their own way, fighting with each other. we have zero cohesion, nothing is holding most of the country together except geography. the pledge of allegience is not the reason.... its just one thing out of 100, thats been crushed... that USED to hold things together, that USED to encourage the feeling we were a family, you are a american. now EVERYONE is fighting as hard as possible to be different. to be " special". even gay groups cant get along, and are kicking out white male gays... because they are not down trodden as much as a minority gay... so they are not special enough to partake . it boils down to everyone turning into selfish, self centered, special snowflake cunts. who cant sacrifice enough to stand up for the national anthem... much less sacrifice anything for their country. |

The socialistic/communistic emergence via the left.
America is only great under a free, capitalistic environment. |
|
The majority of the next generation wants full blown socialism and once enough boomers die off and socialism loving immigrants get voting rights they will get it. There was a time when a man like Sanders would have been blacklisted and monitored by the FBI. Today he's a serious contender for President of The United States of America and would have a real shot at it if he were not being cheated by a murdering old harpy under federal investigation. Meanwhile a reality TV star has pretty much cocked up all opposition to the left.
That sum it up well enough? |

Compared to the rest of the world it is great. Anyone who thinks differently is fucking wrong and get the fuck out. Japan is a better place to live in many ways. I wouldn't rather live there, but that's because I would be an outsider in a society that profoundly favors its own. Japan isn't rushing to open the borders to low IQ third worlders. The Japanese government doesn't shame its citizens for past misdeeds (real or imagined). Japan doesn't have a crime problem. There aren't areas of Japan that are dominated by a hostile minority that the government pretends do not exist. Sure, it's crowded as fuck, the culture endlessly stresses the importance of working yourself to death and never, EVER making your boss look bad and you can't really have guns, but at least their government isn't waging war against the Japanese people. Can you own a gun there? Yes. It's not easy and there are a lot of hoops to jump through. You're also very restricted on what type of gun and what you can do with it. Long arms only of a sporting purpose and enough fees and regulations that few people bother with it. So technically yes but it's rather expensive and pointless to do so. |
