I wouldn't think a koolaid drinking Euro 'tard like you would need this explained.

Wagons have all of the handling benefits of a sedan combined with the cargo carrying capability of a SUV/CUV.

I can think of numerous times I had something I couldn't move with one of my sedans that I could have fit in one of these, but I wound up using a van or pickup.

Really, when you think about it, it's the 3 box sedan form factor that doesn't make sense. They're neither practical nor are they sporty. The American infatuation with sedans that's now dying probably never should have happened to begin with.

I miss my 1996 VW Passat VR6 wagon with a 5 speed.

2x4x16 would fit inside.

Roofrack would handle about 400 lbs. Built my back deck, hauled all the lumber on it. Could put 6x 6x6x12" on it.

Heated seats, 26 mpg car. Sold it at 225k miles.

You simply don't fully comprehend the power of good and constant marketing. The proof? You have men talking about how cool their sedans, wagons and hatchbacks are.

What makes sedans, wagons and hatches cool is the guys running 7s, 8s and 9s in the 1/4 mile with them. How is that not cool?

Where is your God now?

"The E63 S wagon cages a sinister-sounding 603-hp twin-turbo V-8 mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard 4Matic+ all-wheel drive. This setup helped the superwagon we tested explode from zero to 60 mph in 3 seconds flat and obliterate the quarter-mile in 11.2 seconds at 126 mph."

Saw several in GE. The brake discs are ridiculous, they must be 18 inches across.

I really, really want a sports wagon as my next vehicle.  I currently have a a sports coupe that is due for replacement, and I'd like something fun to drive (which rules out most SUVs).  The WRX is too boy racerish, Mercedes, BWM, and Audi are not something I'd want to own outside of warranty.  The Volvo V60 looks nice, but they aren't exactly known for sporty handling.

Any suggestions?

I remember when Pontiac was supposed to be bring the Holden Commodore ute to our shores, I think it was going to be called the G8 ST. I went to my local Pontiac dealer and asked them to call me when I could order one. Then GM killed the only brand they had that made cars I wanted. Basically a modern El Camino with an LS3. I wanted one so bad...

All the drawbacks of a car and all the drawbacks of an SUV in one tidy package.

Why would a 3-series wagon or RS4 have less rear seat space than the sedan built on the same platform?

Exactly this. I've never owned a vehicle that WASN'T either a wagon or a hatchback.  I need 1 vehicle to do almost everything - comfortably carry 4 people, carry lumber, carry gardening equipment, carry dogs, be good in snow, be fun to drive, be good on gas, and not cost a ton of money .

The only thing that can measure up to all that is a wagon.   They're the Swiss Army Knives of vehicles and I don't care how it looks.
