For me, it's the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich. I even ask for extra McChicken sauce packets and the staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.
One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly McDonald's worker laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".
Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald's restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs.
I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it's delicious! What a great restaurant.

It was actually used in a better context than most copy/paste attempts.

That's the only thing edible on Sonic's menu now.  Give them time and they will screw it up as well.  Maybe they'll change it to a veggie dog and go out of business for good.

They would be competing with every 7-11, Wawa and Circle K in the neighborhood.

Then again, no gas station offers burgers, shakes, french fries or fried hot apple pies...

My guess is that it's because it is difficult to make a hot dog distinctive - i.e., make your hot dog stand out from everyone else's hot dog.

Also, pork is repulsive to certain ethnic groups - which is one reason why the McRib is only available intermittently.

McDonalds used to do more things - but at some point you realize that there is more profit in doing less.  With less on your menu you have less supplies to manage, less cooking to manage, etc...  The real question is would a hot dog add any to there sales to cover those costs.  There are already a few good hotdog fast food places - Sonic is managing it well.  But McDonalds would be hard pressed to become a destination for hot dogs.

Now what is missing is a fresh corndog - but the only places that have done that were dedicated to corndogs.  It is not cost effective to put that equipment in, especially since they have a shitty shelf life once fried, so you have to have a great turn over do do it fast.  If not, then it is a 15+ minute wait and nobody waits 15 minutes for fast food.

We have a fast food restaurant chain called CookOut that serves fresh corndogs and they are delicious as hell.

same reason virtually no burger chains sells hot dogs. Of the few that do, look at the sales numbers between burgers and dogs.

Hamburgers can be cleanly and neatly eaten with one hand while driving. Just like CFA.   Hotdogs... not so much.
Hamburger dressing is all sandwiched (no pun) between the bun and the meat.   Hot dog dressing is all exposed, with nothing to hold it in place. If it doesn't fall off the dog, it gets stuck to the wrapper which then paints it on every surface within 3 feet.

Try to eat a MOR dog while you're driving. (mustard, onions, relish)

It is a marketing gimmick. Artificially manipulated shortage drives demand. Disney did the same thing once with the "Disney Vault". They'd release a movie on VHS for a specific period time and that's it. Thus, driving up demand.

Yep. But it was in 1990 when the change happened.

https://www.eatthis.com/mcdonalds-french-fries-taste-different/

The secret was cooking with beef tallow. Beginning in 1990, McDonald's ditched the beef-based preparation and started cooking their French fries in vegetable oil. Funny enough, The founder of mcd's learned to cook fries with beef tallow from a HOTDOG stand in Chicago.

Yea, it more than likely wouldn't be in their brand of flavoring

Lets face it, they sell flavored fast food. Yea it sounds weird

It'd have to be a McDonalds hotdog with a specific taste, specific toppings on it that would make it taste like a mcdonalds product

I go to McD for McD food, not for a burger than any restaurant can make

Don't worry it'd be some woke hotdog

INTRODUCING

McDonald's Veggie Hotdog!! 0% beef!

*2% of sales go to your local woke chapter of bullshit

Also, I don't where you people get McD's and can hold a burger a drive

All the McDs in my area are built in the worst sloppiest way possible, if it isn't a burger wrapper you almost need a fork. Lettuce SPILLS out the sides and the entire bottom box is slathered in grease, lettuce and juices
