For me, it's the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich. I even ask for extra McChicken sauce packets and the staff is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.
One time I asked for McChicken sauce packets and they gave me three. I said, "Wow, three for free!" and the nice friendly McDonald's worker laughed and said, "I'm going to call you 3-for-free!".
Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald's restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs.
I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it's delicious! What a great restaurant.

You’re a pup.

McDonald’s went from beef tallow to some veggie oil in 1986 for fries.

That took them from 9.9 to 6.0

Formula 47 was beef tallow and vegetable shortening. That was what was in use untill they made them vegan friendly and consequently,  shitty.

Never tried those ones. I heard they were terrible.

BK had hot dogs back in the 80's. I remember eating them. Nasty little steamed hot dogs. I don't remember if they were in a kids meal or all by themselves. It was a long time ago. I was a kid, I didn't care, I just wanted a hot dog!

They tried multiple times, why don't they  have a sloppy joe or tacos, i mean this question could be endless.

They make what they want cause they know what the customer is willing to pay for.

Ever been to a Nathan’s? Their dogs and fries are awesome, especially if you ask for them on the crispy side, but you’re still spending $10 for two dogs and fries

Not sure I'd trust a McDonald's hot dog.  They'd probably use those cheap Bar-S hot dogs you see in the supermarket for a dollar a pack.  I don't know what they put in those things, but meat that cheap is highly suspect.

Because they know that with the kind of people that eat there, sooner or later somebody will walk in and ask for them to put ketchup on it, and even McDonald’s knows that putting ketchup on a hotdog is vile.

This.

Like killing a deer and thinking, I don't want the backstraps, don't want the steak, not the roast, nor the burger .... just blend up the gut pile, form it into penis shapes and I'll eat that.

In 1990 they stopped frying them in beef tallow. Don't get me wrong. They are still worthy of the occasional fry craving. They just aren't as good as they used to be.

They did.

The store I worked at as a teen was one of the trial stores.  It didn't sell very well here and from what I gathered, other places either as it got 86'd completely and was never moved to a full menu item.

They would be competing with every 7-11, Wawa and Circle K in the neighborhood.

Then again, no gas station offers burgers, shakes, french fries or fried hot apple pies...

My guess is that it's because it is difficult to make a hot dog distinctive - i.e., make your hot dog stand out from everyone else's hot dog.

Also, pork is repulsive to certain ethnic groups - which is one reason why the McRib is only available intermittently.

Some of the McDonalds in my area had bratwurst for a short time; probably 10-15 years ago.

I tried a couple and they eventually made a turd which is about the best thing I can say about them.

Pesonally I have serious doubts that they'd be able to pull off a product that people would say:
"you know, I could really go for a hot dog"

"Yeah, me too. Let's go to McDonalds"
