Got an employee who was whining today asking for an advance for next weeks pay (I paid early Thursday for New Years).
Seems like the individual had impulse spending problem and blew $300 on fireworks and $200 on liquor for New Years. Problem is that he did not have enough money to cover his rent for Jan 2022 that is due Monday.and is also short for diaper money. Sometimes I just wonder about society. |

It's a training and culture issue.
Once a person is raised a certain way it is very difficult to get their head rewired in a way that is more useful and less chaotic(exciting). |
|
Say no. Lesson learned.
Or tell he should have put that shit on a credit card. |

Yep. I've been there, but finally saw how foolish I was. Most people never have that moment of clarity.

Sounds like a guy I use to work with. He hadn't grown out of high school mode yet.

I have 4 accounts One I put my spending money in one I put my bill money in and finally one I put my savings in. The bill money gets transferred when I write a check or epay a bill. The savings I don’t touch unless it’s something I have been purposely saving for. The last account has the money to pay off my student loan in it. This helps greatly with knowing what I can and can’t spend.

I haven't spent $500 on liquor and fireworks in the last 5 years. Maybe not the last 10 years. |

View Quote Plenty of $70k pickup trucks parked in the driveways of shotgun rental homes around here. They have a saying around here YOLO. Problem is that there are too many safety nets (welfare) around here so many act irresponsible around here. |

Known a lot of folks like that. The worst was a black dude years ago. Every weekend he'd blow his whole pay day on crack whores, crack, booze and pay his tab to his friend who kept him alive and let him ride to and from work with him.
The "tab" was a big pack of cheap weiners. Every Monday the friend put the big pack of cheap weiners in the employee fridge. Crack dude would live all week off the cheap weenies. I liked watching him do lunch. He'd tear open the weiners, finger out two or three, throw them in the microwave (no plate, not even a napkin), heat and eat. Unless he was getting food at home somehow, that was the meal of the day. Friday, rinse, repeat. Yeah, that place was something else. |

I work with guys making less money than me. They buy a new truck and pay more in taxes than I paid for the car I have been driving for5 years. I make good money but I never stayed in debt.

How else am i supposed to afford NV, Kac build, supressors, and all my gadgets?
Bye Bye bank! OP's EE ratings check out PS im single with no kids so i can do this |

If you were a good boss you would have taken your employees out to the club and sent them home with fireworks as an end of the year bonus.

So leave it all in the financial system for it to go to zero ...or buy NODs and ammo to be able to raid the commie's house across the street that had biden flags when the lights go out.
Decisions decisions |

People with this mentality, their money literally ends up in the shitter, the dump or the salvage yard. Then do it again. Can't get past week to week but have to put on an act.

I can't imagine spending $500 and it putting me in a bad spot.
Tough. |

I know of a couple who lived in a trailer park. They bought a couple of thousand dollar cats - then they got booted from the park for non payment of lot fees.

Plenty of people around here are already anticipating what to spend their tax refunds on. Already had some talk about going to Jackson Hewitt and H&R Block to get an advanced loan on their tax refunds already. Plenty are generally stupid. For the past 6 months you can see people in my area whooping it up after the 15th of the month when the $250-$300 credit per child shows up in their account. |

She is still like that, 44yo and literally just out of her parents garage apartment to live with he drunk boyfriend. Owns nothing of value despite having been married once after me. I own my land, house and business. ( I do owe on a couple machines ) |

Long term thinkers think net worth. Short term thinkers think what works today. BIL asked me at Christmas what hand tools I’d recommend and after I told him he says “poor people have poor ways”. That’s the short term think. Buy junk that’s worthless now you’ve got junk. Wait and buy good stuff that people want and you have an asset.

You seem to employ a lot of people who make very poor decisions.

Vince Young, nfl quarterback, got a 26 million dollar signing bonus and blew the entire amount.

View Quote I have a family member like this. Bounces from trailer park to trailer park on eviction notices, but owns two or three papered purebred dogs at a time that he never registers, breeds, or trains. Just likes to brag on how they're pure bred, while they poop all over the trailer. Has collections of ridiculous items that you have to "understand to appreciate", like crystals, and burlwood that he carves into items no one would buy. Jumps from job to job without having a career, or ever saving for the future. Happy as a clam in mud, though. He's found his niche. |

Most eye opening moment of my life was when I realized 99.9% of poor people are wholly responsible for their poverty.

It was hard for me when I first moved out on my own. Going from buying everything I wanted with my money living with my parents rent free- to having to direct my money towards adulting, things like rent and electricity…… It took me a year or two to adjust and tighten up on my spending habits. Even longer to realize that it’s important to save
I’m still not the greatest with my money at 40 lol |

This is me. I suck with money. I'm 32 and have never had more than $1,000 between paychecks. Usually down to under $100.
My parents had overwhelming debt and it killed my mom at 46 from a stroke, and my dad is currently dieing of liver failure. I tried to avoid that but have around $3k in outstanding medical bills that the doctors still haven't figured out what's wrong with me. So that's cool, I'm in debt forever and I don't even know how to fix it. Awesome |
