That’s up for debate but I’m going to say it does not since it can’t be used alone.

I lean towards a red dot with magnifier because the magnifier can pull double duty to scope out things with a lower profile than binoculars and since you will eventually be on foot ounces matter.

It’s good enough to hit at 500 or more and is really good up close if your safe house is getting rolled up.

Does a magnifier count as an optic?  If part of a system, as rightly so, an 11.5" suppressed, T2 with 3x mag in an FTC mount.

My no longer lightweight 14.5. It used to be a little under 6 pounds... but it was so consistent at range it gained weight

Debating on ditching the bipod. My plan would be to avoid contact; yet with hordes of commies I may be stuck sitting and watching at times, so it would be convenient. The carbine is center balanced as is, so it's not too noticeable.

If one can scavenge ammo, most out there is 55gr or green tips. I know with the light stuff I can put OK energy on target at 500 yards easy, but with my 77gr IMI I can put double that energy.

I know my drops for various loads, so if I have to fight, I will keep as much distance as possible.

Or I will die right away since I built it on a PSA lower

And before you say it is “two optics”, I know. But it has become ubiquitous to run combos like this to the point they really count as one.

On track with this except an LPVO, don’t need the offset. Alternatively, a 6.8 with 4-16 and offset RMR. Both easily accessed.

Ok, so I am torn between real world and the "scenario" as presented, so I have 2 answers.

My actual go-to rifle if the bad guys are really walking up my street and attacking my town is an 18" AR-pattern .308, that is currently wearing a 1-8x LPVO.

If I am imagining the "scenario" as presented in OP, I am taking a a 16" 5.56 AR that currently has an 1-10x scope on it.

It’s Sunday morning and the enemy has secretly landed and taken over. You mission is as follows. Don’t fuck this up.

One rifle, in one configuration, with one optic, to do it all. That means no offset dots recce bros!

You’re traveling through suburban neighborhoods then making your way to a vast forest on the way to the radio free America forward operating base.

The entire way is crawling with Russian North Korean Chinese National globalist. You may engage in heavy battles or you may sneak your way through, you’re not really sure.

Choose your weapon carefully patriot.

That's easy, a bog standard AR in 5.56NATO, every time and twice of a Sunday. Any optic or the plain issue irons. No other rifle comes close, other than maybe something in 7.62x39R, in terms of easy to keep fed and so on, in combat, in terms of availability and commonality of mags and cartridge. If I only can ever have one, that's the one for me. YMMV
