Sounds gay No, The Bird Cage was actually a decent movie, very funny. Of course, you have straight playing gay, playing straight… well, at least Williams. I’d never heard of this movie before this thread, looks like shit. True. Robin Williams was great whether he was playing a gay guy, a cross dresser or a genie |

Quoted: Most people go to the theater to watch movies that interest them. I'm assuming that a romantic movie about two gay men does not appeal to straight white men? Who would have thought View Quote Straight men don’t care about normal romance movies, damn sure don’t want to watch gay men. Hot Lesbians though. Attached File |

Quoted: The Birdcage is hilarious. We've seen it four or five times. You know what Bros has that the Birdcage doesn't? Seven graphic sex scenes. Straight women may go out of morbid curiosity. Straight men just won't. Gallop estimates the total gay population in the US at 4.5%, as of 2017. That's LGBT. Now filter out the portion of that group who have zero interest in watching a romcom with a generous helping of softcore male gay porn and the remainder is your audience, assuming the movie has some redeeming qualities, which Bros apparently doesn't. More interestingly in the same Gallop research is the average American's estimation of the gay population. It ranges from 20% to 24%. The latest and "best" true estimation is still below 5%, which is a significant jump from the 3% that has been quoted for years. That's the magic of Hollywood, convincing everyone that a quarter of the country is gay or bi. Lately, of course, you'd be forgiven for believing that there are transexuals literally everywhere, when in fact that estimated population turns out to be less than 1% (1.6 million total, as of 2022), per Reuters. How they're managing to suck the oxygen out of the national conversation on a daily basis while we face crisis after crisis is mind boggling. Btw, the demographic who most badly overestimates those numbers? Young women between 18 and 25. Shocked, shocked I tell you. View Quote Amen. |

View Quote I'll take a flyer and wager that the movie will not discuss why the U.S Army executed Till's father, adn why he was in the South in the first place. Won't fit the narrative. |

Maybe this explains things?
Hard to believe normal men aren’t interested in deviant sexual lifestyles. |

I tend to be more open-minded in my movie viewing concerning gay characters. For example, I thought "The Birdcage" was a hoot. I've worked with a lot of gay people in the television business.
That said, when I saw the trailer for "Bros" my first and final responses were "I don't think so." Interesting that we've got this onslaught of Gay Pride Month, drag queen story time, trannies in high government offices and rainbow everything/everywhere, but they still need straight, white males to save their s**t. |
|
I'm guessing the FBI will be subpoenaing theater credit card receipts and security videos to find out who went to the theater and committed a hate crime by not picking the scrabble movie.

They should have called it "Sisters" and made the movie with two lesbians. Would have killed at the box office.
It's like porn. Straight men will watch 2 lesbians go at it. Straight women will too (for the most part). Neither group will watch to men go at it. There's a lesson there... |
|
Two gay Jewish dudes, totally the demographic that most of America identifies with.

It appears that the world needs straight men. Who knew? Perhaps they will stop trying to alienate us.
Just kidding. They'll keep up with the agenda until we give up, or they die trying (figuratively). |

I saw the trailer several times and it looks like your typical cheesy b movie romcom, but with gay guys. I don't even know any of my gay friends that have seen it or at least admitted to it yet.
It just didn't look that good regardless of it was LGBTQ or not. Also Billy Eichner is funny in his niche but is a one trick pony. If his movie character is still like "Billy on the Streets" then holy shit that would get real old real quick. |
|
Quoted: Why would straight people watch a gay movie? Even the trailer ad on tv looked stupid. View Quote This is the flip side of the "representation" argument. If women need to see women, gays need to see gays, blacks need to see blacks, etc., why do straight whites need to watch gay whites? Predator did diversity right. |

You know how Mexican women aren’t clamoring for another Raid movie?
Same reason I’m not interested in watching a movie literally only about faggots. And this comes from a guy who loves the Spartacus and Black Sails series, where many of the main characters were homo-sexuals. |

Hollywood's attempt at indoctrination again. Shaming straight people because they want our money.

Saw coming attractions for this when wife and I saw Elvis, asked "Who the fuck would go to this?" Apparently nobody included the gays lol.
But would should change the world for them lol they don't even accept themselves |

Never heard of it.
Actually, now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve heard anything about any movies in a couple of years, except I somehow saw a trailer for that Nick Cage movie where he kinda sorta plays himself but not really. That actually looked amusing, but I never saw it. |

As it turns out, recent research that only begun since the dawn of time, suggests that people tend to relate to and watch media and stories onto which they can actually relate. Since about 3% of the population is gay, I would imagine this movie will do quite well with a solid 3% of the population.
An investor who spent many millions of dollars on this film, perhaps should resume drinking. At present, investing in Hollywood, who are still awaiting the report from the above mentioned cutting edge research, has spent the last 3 years heavily investing into movies that only cater to a small subset of the population, while at times chosing to offend or insult the larger subset, doing so. To everyone's wide-wonder Hollywood has not been doing well. |

Quoted: Anyone remember The Bird Cage?? Gay movie about a gay relationship and gay romance. By all metrics a resounding success. I'd see it again, and I've seen it several times. Maybe the problem here is quality, not content. Fuck Hollywood anyway, I hope all of their shit flops. View Quote Bird Cage was pretty damn funny. One of Robin Williams best roles if you ask me. Quality writing makes all the difference. |

Despite a $22 million production budget, an estimated $30 to $40 million promotional machine, Eichner appearing on every imaginable media platform and largely positive reviews from critics, 'Bros' only managed to take in a measly $4.8 million on its opening weekend. Long story short — it bombed. |
