With the exception of two lesbians, all the gay (men and women) I know are in the Army. They are not your stereotypical gays. I doubt they will see this movie.

There's nothing even humorous in it, much less funny or laugh-out-loud funny. Setting the gayness aside, it comes across as dull, unimaginative, and totally unfunny. The YouTube comments were way more entertaining. |

So ...
Gay man sees a man kissing a woman, and he’s not interested because that doesn’t match his interests. Strait man sees a man kissing a man, and he’s not interested because he’s transphobic. Thanks Hollywood, I was confused about that! |

I wouldn’t expect gay folks to go to romantic comedies with heterosexual couples a wouldn’t expect the reverse.

About 2% of the population are active sodomites. No wonder a movie targeting that demographic failed.

Quoted: You think gay men don't get married to women and have kids. That's kind of funny. View Quote Just read a *worst first dates* story where a guy met his blind date and it was his former band teacher. Who had a wife a kids. One of my childhood best friends had a closet gay dad. He eventually decided to be who he was going to be once the kids were adults and stopped hiding it. His wife separated from him for a while then went back to him when he got sick (I actually think it was HIV) and took care of him until he died. When it first became common knowledge (and it shocked a bunch of us to the core) I heard from an extended family member that the wife had told her years before that her youngest daughter's conception (at the time ~ 25 years prior) was the last time he had slept with her. |

“Everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo should go see BROS tonight! You will have a blast!” Eichner says. “And it *is* special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on a big screen, esp for queer folks who don’t get this opportunity often.”
So, attacking people who don't want to see your movie while guilt-tripping the majority of people who are also avoiding your movie is his plan? Attached File |

View Quote The entity who quoted me was baiting. No one who has lived any sort of life, and has any level of empathy, is unaware of the many closeted males and females living destructive lives out of their own fears and often self loathing. It’s not 1950. At least not where I am. The fact that the movie wasn’t popular has less to do with the subject matter than it having a very narrow target audience. It’s just another example of a group taking “our turn at the trough” presenting things as they perceived them instead of actually thinking it through. A remake of “The Big Chill”, “St. Elmo’s Fire”, or “Singles” that reflected the current times (with another new name) and interwove the same gay male issues would have had broader reach. Instead they chose to make a gay male centric film portraying explicit gay male acts and are doing their best to assume the victim’s role because it didn’t sell. |

Everybody is inclined to see the world through the myopic vision of their surroundings. Hollywood probably believes that at least 20% of the population is actively gay and probably 50% is possibly gay but not internally accepting it. You know, everything has to be 50/50... Add to that, they probably believe 1/2 the strait population is open minded enough to enjoy a gay moving. With that perception, a gay romance should appeal to 75% of the population...
Realistically, I suspect the actual gay population is closer to 5%, with another 25 percent of liberals wishing they were gay so they could be cool too. There may be another 5% that are androgynous enough that they could be gay, but they don't want to be. As such, they targeted the movie to less than 17% of the population and wonder why it did not become a hit. --- I watched a few gay movies in college, mostly because of peer pressure - friends of good friends got my friends to go, so I went went because it was the thing to do - support my friends. Some were not bad - I think Chasing Amy was entertaining (but I liked other work from that director). Some were butt sex fests like Jefferies. It was probably critically acclaimed, it did show the AIDS epidemic from the gay perspective probably pretty well - but it was also Patric Stewards coming out movie. That made it the first "major" release gay movie I am aware of. I can not say I was not relieved as the friends of friends kind of left the picture and I did not feel pressured into watching any more Gay movies. I will admit, watching them probably got me laid a few times - so there is that as well. A man can sometimes do crazy things to get laid. |

Quoted: I had a thread about this, the movie itself. It looked like it had some funny relationship bits but it also had a scene where one of the stars was getting head from a couple guys on his couch...fuuuck that! If it had been more like The Birdcage, without gay sex scenes, it might have been more of a draw. View Quote |

Quoted: Anyone remember The Bird Cage?? Gay movie about a gay relationship and gay romance. By all metrics a resounding success. I'd see it again, and I've seen it several times. Maybe the problem here is quality, not content. Fuck Hollywood anyway, I hope all of their shit flops. View Quote Anyway, no desire to see this shit. Of course the last movie I saw in theaters was Top Gun Maverick and before that Peter Jackson's awesome documentary They Shall Not Grow Old. Fuck Hollywood. |
