Locally, SCI Systems, Inc. and Intergraph Corporation. Both founded here in the 60's, and each would eventually hit Fortune 500 status. At one point SCI's manufacturing division was the largest consumer of IC's in the world. Intergraph owned the CAD industry in the 80's and early 90's.

I was in Huntsville when both were at their height. Bought Intergraph CAD systems at two different job stops, they were the easiest to learn by far back then, and were the first to adopt a graphical user interface. Their Microstation PC platform version was vastly superior to the contemporary AutoCAD, but AutoCAD made itself the standard by cleverly allowing engineers to pirate it. Microstation was locked to a hardware key that couldn't be readily defeated. When given a choice in what to purchase by a big company, engineers would always steer it toward AutoCAD because they could install it at home for personal projects or even to work at home. Short-sighted decision on Intergraph's (now Bentley System's) part. The workstation version is gone, but Microstation still rules for piping and certain other niches.

Surprised no one has mentioned TGI Friday's. All the ones here are gone, maybe there are still some left out there?

On my honeymoon there was a business in LA

SIDS Baby Furniture. He was going out of business.  I think about the time the term was going mainstream.

They had been open since 1900 or so.

Could name dozens of bass boat brands that either went tits up or were bought by another. The last small company/family owned bass boat company was bought out but retained the name. BassCat.

I still have a Sears Ted Williams shotgun along with a couple of boxes of Ted Williams shotgun shells (the shotgun is a Winchester 1200 branded for Sears & Roebuck).

Bell Labs still exists and it’s still based out of Murray Hill, NJ but is owned by Nokia. Bell Labs stayed with Lucent when they merged with Alcatel to become Alcatel-Lucent, which was then purchased by Nokia in 2015.

Just a couple of years ago they achieved data rates of 1 Terabit/second.
