Ok...I've decided to start using my mountain bike more. I want a concealed holster for my Glock 23 that I can wear. I was thinking something along the lines of a fanny pack.

Any ideas? What works for you guys?

For some reason, I'm thinking the only comfortable carry would be SOB. Not sure how you conceal that, though.

Maybe the fanny pack thrown to the back?

Maybe in a hydro back pack?

I've worn a Bladetech IWB holster with a button up camp shirt over it while mountain biking with no problems.

Not until you crash and you will. If you dont crash once in a awhile, you really arent mountain biking. Put it in your camelback or other pack. Bro carry's a Glock 27 in a little pouch mounted under his seat. I dont pack when I ride.

Yep, there's that and when I ride, I tend to crash some.

I just can't see any front or side carry holster being comfortable with the posture you take riding a MB.

For me, I'd have to go with reverse fanny pack or hydro pack carry.

A fanny pack would be slow to access, what about a dirtbike kidney belt to use as a holster?

I just throw it in my pack. I realize it's not real accessible. But as was mentioned, I wreck pretty often so I really don't want it on my person. I have considered some sort of frame mounted case as well.

I picked up a hill people gear recon bag thinking I would clip it to the front of my camelback but just haven't got around to it. Also, taking a digger on pistol right on my chest seems like it would be ouchy.

I usually just throw my J Frame in my camel back. It fits nicely in the cargo pocket of my bike shorts when I'm off the bike.

How do you keep it secure when riding or crashing? Ever land on it? I am having a hard time imagining riding like that.

Keep it in a pack. You don't want to fall on it. Honestly, the only time you could need one would be after you crashed and you have you pack off to fix whatever you just broke in the crash. Otherwise, you are gonna keep on riding away from the trouble. I personally feel zero to be armed while mtb.

I've had friends crash on their dirtbikes (motorcycles) and end up with bruises that are perfect impressions of the tools in their fanny packs - think 13mm open end wrench. Not a big fan of carrying hard objects like a handgun in my Camelbak.

I open carry on a belt, yeah, I wear 5.11 shorts on a bike. velo frowns, but I have what I need.

Could try one of these and a slightly smaller gun... I have one and it's pretty decent with my J-Frame and a biking jersey. I've got an LCP now that'd work even better, maybe give it a try if my ribs heal up from my last crash before I leave for the year.

Kangaroo Carry holster. Look it up. I've worn it running and biking. It works, and is washable.

I don't go for one on the frame, at least not a primary one. Why?

If someone knocks me off my bike and breaks my leg, say, and then decides to come back and finish the job (I bike in the country), my bike is over there and I am over here, unarmed.

It is too easy to be separated from the bike, hence the gun.

I do a lot of trail riding and also running and I use a Remora holster. It stays in place, keeps my handgun where I'm used to carrying, and it's super comfortable. I've gone over the handlebars with it and it stayed right where it was supposed to.

While my bike riding is not quite mountain bike riding, but the back dirt roads can get interesting to say the least. I open carry my G20, as I want to get to it quickly! Not only do I have dogs once in a while, I also have both black and grizzly bears and moose using the same areas.

I wear Troy Lee Designs "Ace" short that have a velcro strap that I feed through the holster. It works perfectly. I'm not really worried about crashing on it. You should see the gnarly chunk I ride on a regular basis. The G19 is probably a cushier landing pad

The thing is - if you happen to get thrown from your bike, you don't want to be separated from your weapon. The gun needs to be attached to the rider.

I would go with a fanny pack, like a 5.11 or a Blackhawk.

You can even disguise them a little so they don't scream "gun" during summer outdoor activities.

You know, like I did with my Blackhawk.

Gotta carry my "Epi Pens" you know. (Only thing is, my "Epi Pen" is .45 caliber).

i do this with the fanny pack just tucked to the side; it's still very accessible on my left hip.

I have yet to find one that works for what you are looking for. When I ride its 10-20 miles worth of trails at a time. Nothing is comfortable in the waistband, etc. I usually just put my G26 or my SW340PD in my mall camel back with my keys and ID.
