Quoted: Good god I hope it is the end to retro styled cars. I never got it. Are these name sakes and the designers behind them not capable to standing on their own? Why cant they be new designs? Should innovation be stifled cause we pine for what always been done/what we're used to/comfortable with? Go buy the fucking old one. I guess that's why I've liked german cars, the designers dont have that hang up. The gen 6 stang is the first mustang I'd ever buy and all the mustang guys clown on it and talk about their crappy looking and crappy performing older ones are so much better. Camaro guys are like that too. They'll spend the entire night telling you why the pre gen 6 Camaros are much better. Car dudes are strange View Quote Barrett Jackson caused more pain for middle class car enthusiasts... Everyone who had a rusted out Camaro in the back 40 thought they were sitting on a gold mine because they saw an all original low mileage 1968 Z/28 sell on Barrett Jackson for $225k. |

Quoted: Retro design was a direct response to Barrett Jackson driving the price up on every 60s & 70s muscle car creating a demand that nobody could fill or afford until the car makers decided to fill the demand with retro models. This is eventually going to reflect in the pricing, especially as people who appreciate the design nostalgia age out and die. |

I like the way it looks. The body doesn't scream refined though. Perhaps there because a lot of it is fiberglass. It looks kind of bumpy if that makes sense.
Two things I cannot get past... 1) The exhaust note. It looks like an exotic but sounds like a muscle car. I don't know why that's a problem for me but it just is. 2) The interior is terrible. Actually, it's just the dash and console. I can't get over that stupid row of buttons and the dam below it. It's completely unusable. In a high performance car, everything needs to be easy and fast to reach without having to rotate your head and move your arms that much. And God forbid your girl ever want to hold your hand, let alone give you road head! |

Quoted: The Toyota MR-2 was a bright spot in the 1980's car market and actually sold quite well. View Quote Not exactly inspirational. I have one of the expensive, but attainable, options siting in my garage. It's a 1989 560SL and had huge power, at 227 hp and 287 foot-pounds of torque. Of course it was around $70k in 1989 dollars, so most people couldn't afford it. The late 70's and 80's mostly sucked. |

I’m still not sold on the mid engine design, I absolutely love the C7.
However, after looking it over, building it on the website in Sebring orange, I’m more interested than ever. |

I'm really hoping that this new one drops the price of the previous generations. Used Vettes are still outrageously expensive, even those that are well used.

I think it is badass. Sub 3 seconds 0-60 with 490hp? Wait until the turbocharge it and give it 1,000hp. This thing is a supercar killer. Next year, at LeMans, they are going to destroy their class, including the Ford GT. Great job, Chevy! View Quote |

Yeah, you're triggering a reply. . .Wow 17'er, your begging for attention is really sad. And you demand a reply, but you & your cohort come out the gate with "Boomers are gonna die off soon" "you are a clown" and a tawdry Cialis comment. I did read every post, but figured there was too much chickenshit to bother with trying to have an actual conversation with anyone. Where was I when you were storming about my silence? Actually, I left the insults here to log onto the Corvette Forum. I didn't just visit the C7 section, I fent to the C8 section also. Yeah, there were spirited disagreements, and I spent a bit of the evening reading the back-n-forth in the C7 & C8 sections without encountering one chickenshit insult. Go figure. The ignorance is thinly disguised in the spoiler above. The premise being that current model owners are an impediment, the implication being that only young woke people know the true value of the C8. Again with the narcissist youngster view. The truth of the auto business is that reputations are made on repeat business. Jeep owners buy the next Jeep. Mustang drivers are true to Ford, and Corvette Forum sponsors like Mike Furman will confirm that their livelihood is based on repeat Corvette business. So, despite your baiting comments, a lot of us really do embrace the next new thing. Despite your self-centered demand to be noticed, you don't really know anything. And most of the bravado written here comes out of a mouth that can't even afford a used Corvette! OTOH, I've consistently owned sports cars since I was 17. I was a registered poster on LS1.com while this forum was new, & crashed, and had to have everyone recreate their accounts. I first logged into the Corvette Forum before many of you teeners connected to the Internet. I had a friend that worked on the Vette assembly line when it was on Union Blvd in St. Louis, and another friend who worked on the Bowling Green assembly line. Yes in point of fact, in contrast to yourself, I damned well do know a thing or two. Yes, I can stand to be told I'm wrong. But there's ways to disagree with person without being an ass. Supra actually did write a piece a nice piece, but he he overstepped his privilege with me in the first sentence. So I walked away. Before you dogpile my ass further for not playing your game here, consider for a moment if the arfcom Staff would appreciate the fact the your writing style drives clicks to another web site. View Quote Assume I don’t own a vette...check Belittle assumed age...check Assume I can’t afford a used vette...check Laundry list of digital and geographic merit badges...check On top of that, I’d challenge you to read my initial reply to your cargo scenarios again. As I never made comments about “boomers”, cialis, etc. None of it was “chickenshit”. I was actually trying to have a conversation on the merits of your scenarios. I even later took umbrage with the fact that others couldn’t curtail their insults; which basically killed the conversation. Or at least opened the door to dodging any real challenges. I’m glad you can accept when you’re wrong. Because, well, you are. The cargo scenarios may have felt carefully crafted, but they were riddled with inaccuracies. As long as we’re making assumptions, why not just come out and share the real reasons you’re not onboard the C8 train. Previous generation killer? Honestly don’t like the look? Afraid of change? I don’t honestly care. So why mask the real reason with some arbitrary scenarios that don’t carry water? Alternatively, if the scenarios really are your sticking point. Congratulations! You were wrong. Now you can be happy with the C8 like the rest of us . |
|
I generally like it. I’m more of a MoPar guy but do have 59, 69 and 2014 Corvettes. The C7 was the first since the C3 that I liked enough to buy. All are manual transmission rag tops. The C8 is growing on me. That Spyder is pretty cool. We’ll see what next year brings for this model as far as options go. I was waiting on the supposed release of the final year Challenger with the 426 semi-hemi but this car may change that plan.

Thank you to everyone who's been sharing photos/videos
I've always been a fan of this ride: Attached File It will be nice to see if the maintenance/durability side of the C8 stands up to a few years of use. I don't see myself buying one soon, but perhaps in a few years and it will hopefully be more affordable to own and use than that 308. |
