Brain tumor got him if I remember right. He replaced an older guy that was always saying "My Mighty Brush"

Little off topic, there was a member here who had his own pic Bob Ross style for his avatar. I do believe he was a painter as well..

Bob's show didn't come out until I was a Senior in HS. He stole most
of his personna from Bill Alexander, who I was watching when I was a kid. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAIs9sdlQZM&feature=player_embedded |

I thought this was going to be about Paul Podhorn.
I like Bob Ross. I do not like Paul "the theif" Podhorn. |

Holy shit....I had no idea I could cob a fresh load of cool pics for my armory from a Bob Ross thread
Pretty cool that people can recognize his talent and enjoyed his art. |
|
My kids still love watching him paint. We occasionally find the reruns and they will be glued to the TV.

Loved his show!
I swear he used lots of chip brushes that I buy dozens of from Harbor Freight! |
|
View Quote That was one of my favorite episodes. |

I do...loved watching Bob Ross.
started watching him shortly after my first wife passed away...his voice was very healing...even the sound of the brush on the canvas was very relaxing.... I miss the show |
|
The guy was way to calm, I will bet anything he was a drunken wife beater.

The world would be a happier place if Bob Ross was given a prime time slot. I don't even care that everything would be reruns. That dude was like a strange mix of Valium and Prozac. He was visual and auditory weed. I'm pretty sure you could play that show for a crowd of angry muzzies, and they'd set down their AKs and pick up paint brushes and the Middle East would instantly be covered in happy trees and fluffy clouds and bubbly streams.

OMG, 3 pages and not a disparaging remark about the guy?!? GD record there.
My brother, who was a mean asshole growing up, loved his show. |

Yep, he was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage. That show was very tranquilizing. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Retired Air Force guy, right? That show was very tranquilizing. I watched it a few times for exactly that reason lol. His voice could be almost be hypnotizing.... I am a very vocally oriented person. I often find myself watching some youtube videos just because I like the persons voice and not so much on the content. For instance I like watching gaming lets plays and sometimes I will find one that I am not really even interested in getting the game, but the persons voice is very soothing to me and i will just put it on and lay down in bed and it carries me off into a nap lol. Bob Ross was that way. |

Very cool, mellow show. I enjoyed watching 'ol Bob paint...

I work with a guy that can talk about anything for sometimes hours at a time. Shortly after I started I gave him the nickname Bob Ross because he doesn't just tell you a story, he paints a picture.

and over here, we'll just put a snack bar! |

Retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years in the AF. He said that he didn't like being "mean" and "tough", and decided that when he moved on from the military that he would never scream at anyone again.
He succeeded; his show is the most tranquil thing I have ever seen lol. |
|
He had the bushy hair to hide that he had cut off an ear and mailed to a woman who spurned his love.

Did some digging and found my attempt at a Bob Ross painting. I don't remember which episode this was from, but it was a great drunken night http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r210/ryan_jarvis3/Random%20shit/IMG_0745_zpsa5890e6a.jpg View Quote That is actually pretty cool. Drunken painting. |

Drunken painting. It's a blast. You have to be really drunk though. I'm thinking about making "Bob Ross Night" a monthly event |

"I'm Bob Ross Bitch!"
LMFAO! I enjoyed his show. Talent, he had it, is why he made it look SO easy. |

I vaguely remember seeing the painting. Not were it was from though.

I just introduced my 4 year old son to the wonders of Bob Ross.
First he made this face: Then he made this face: Then he said, "Mama, I want to see more!" And I made this face: |

I had a dream several months ago that I had to shoot old Bob in the chest. As he fell back with a .45 hole in his sternum he looked at me and told me that I was mean.

I used to watch his show and be in total awe the entire time. He was very talented for sure.

Once he said someone sent him a letter asking how could he be happy all the time?
He replied that he was doing what he wanted to do (painting), creating the world the way he wanted to see it, and if someone wants to get mean "just turn on the News". |
