The first movie I thought of was Indiana Jones and the  Raiders of the Lost Arc.
My mom took me when I was 9.

I watched most everything from the 90's, so that list would be a mile long.

Right above you.

1 and 2 are the OGs.  The other ones are definitely lower budget, like straight to VHS and made for TV quality.  But the traps and the overacting by the bad guys is still pretty entertaining in some of them.

One I can think of specifically I didn't see mentioned, for the holidays, Home Alone 1 & 2.

Damnit!

Okay, I'll make up for it and browse the library.

- Angels In The Outfield, and since that's a Disney movie, I'd add just about any and all pre-woke Disney movies since they used to actually make a lot of great stuff, animated and not.
- The Beethoven movies
- The Brave Little Toaster
- Camp Nowhere
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the original)
- The Dirt Bike Kid
- Homeward Bound
- Hook
- Jingle All The Way
- Kindergarten Cop
- Mom And Dad Save The World
- The Neverending Story
- The Pee-Wee movies
- Prehysteria!
- Prancer
- The original Space Jam
- Who Framed Roger Rabbit (maybe)

If you need TV shows, I got TV shows.

A bit older, 1961 but great adventure movie, especially for that age group. Mysterious Island (Jules Verne).
It streams on one of the free movie platforms. Can't remember which one. If interested let me know and I'll find it.

Swiss Family Robinson is another good one from that time. One of the theme parks I went to when I was a kid had a great area that I remember not wanting to leave.

If anyone can help me... there was another movie similar to Swiss Family Robinson, island/marooned and lots of weird/primitive gadgets/traps, I want to say from the 90's but maybe 80's.
Ring a bell for anyone? Can't find it searching google.
Edit- I may not be remembering all of Swiss Family Robinson scenes and just think it was a different movie... Coconut bombs/grenades? That was Swiss Family Robinson, I think...

Another good 90's PG-13 movie- Captain Ron

Some many good ones have been picked I don't think I saw:

Beastmaster, a good one from the old days. The chick was hot.

I also liked Krull, his throwing weapon was hilarious.

Basically a thread on my childhood.

Slowly integrating all of these into my own children's viewings.

Conan the Barbarian was my favorite movie at age 3.  Had a sword and everything that I'd whack my mother's boyfriend with at the time.  I wouldn't go anywhere without that sword. Still rates very high today.

Kids want to watch a movie….what do you suggest from the 1980-90s (and older)

They have already seen off the top of my head
Back to the Future series
Indiana Jones
Goonies
War Games
Short Circuit
Flight of the Navigator
The Last Starfighter
Star Wars movies
I’m sure there are a lot more they have seen, but those are off the top of my head.

Remembered more they have seen
Tremors
Honey I Shrunk the Kids,
Princess Bride
The Karate Kid
A bunch of the old Disney live action movies/series (old yeller, Dave Crockett etc….)
Home Alone
The Sandlot (the oldest isn’t really a sports kid, so he didn’t care much about it..but he was younger when he saw it)

I don’t remember if they have seen Big or not…
