Out of the MP-5 9mm will work. Out of a handgun .357 SIG when I wasn't allowed to carry 10 mm at work.

I use to own a HK USP compact in 357sig. That thing hits steel with authority. Down side is iit has a lot of muzzle blast and recoil. Shooting it in an indoor range was unbearable. I can’t imagine setting on off in an indoor defense situation.
It would probably make a good SMG round. |

I wanted it to work. but it kept failing. |

Actually using them in the real world though, where recoil, mag capacity, and ammo cost etc actually exist? 9mm all day. |

I've always wanted a USP compact in .357, or a Sig 239 in the same just for the heck of it. Never have picked one up, don't see them now very often. Got them in .40 instead, which is pretty common.
Guess I most likely never will, and admittedly, I've never even shot a .357 Sig. |

.357 Sig doesn't offer much above 9mm +P or 9+P+ ammo so I'm no longer seeing the special niche it had as a service round.
In gelatin testing, .357 Sig rounds seem to be tied neck & neck with 9mm so there doesn't seem to be much advantage but lots more recoil, flash & noise. I still like it, but find myself not using my .357 Sig barrel very much. |
