Really nice looking stuff.   How many watts is your laser and what size lens do you use for these results?

Put a winch on the jeep a few weeks ago. Picked up an agency6 shackle. I really don't like company logos on anything I own.
Engraved down their logo and added a Jeep grill and silhouette to cover what I could of their engraving.
Had it powder coated today.

Just to take this great thread back to its origins for a moment, here are some lowers for great, all-time low prices.    I've bought a bunch of these over the last couple years.   They were a great deal when they were priced in the $40s, now only $30.

only $30 each, free shipping >$100, and I can highly recommend them

Random project this weekend.
Installing a marine grade trickle charger under the hood.
Made a bracket and ran the wiring to my 4xe port door. Turned the port door into an ARB air chuck location with a 110 plug for the trickle charger.

Hey, maybe someone knowledgeable can help me with an engraving issue.   I bought this .svg file from a seller on etsy.  The image looks fine in the .png and the .svg looks good when I bring it up.   But when I engrave it, I get these retrace lines in the text.   I even asked the seller to resend the file, but still same results.   Is this a problem with the file or a problem with laser settings?   I've never seen this issue with anything else I've engraved.

I guess I am too old to get the significance.   I'm curious about one thing, though.   I think you'd mentioned about creating things in EZ-CAD.  I guess I'd thought of EZ CAD as just being for controlling output from a file created elsewhere, like Adobe Illustrator.   Did you create those images (and all the other cool things you've created) using EZ-CAD , or something else?

I use Autocad and inventor at work daily. Ezcad is basically a dumbed down version of Autocad.

There are much better programs for design work than ezcad, but it is what I have available that doesn't cost me anything. It is clunky and cumbersome. I try to only do light edits and simple designs in ezcad.

Generally I try to find the highest resolution image I can, then convert to .ai at convertio.co
Then I can just import the image and touch up as needed in ezcad.

Another option is to drop an image into ezcad and trace over the image with the sketch tools.

This might help on my above project.

Yes. The more detailed the engraving,  the more damage it does to the surrounding finish.

Really nice clean work.
So with 60w laser, how long does it take your machine to do any one of those images?   At what power; 80%?

The more detail, the longer it takes. The Mexican forces one I posted took almost two hours for the whole thing. Most are around 20-45 minutes

yeah, its easy to g too large...

I thought the same thing with the Mexican eagle logo inside the word circle - slightly smaller so the wreath is concentric with the words encircling it

That was a tough one. Any smaller and the detail on the bird and snake would have washed together.

I tried using a brush with 1 and 2 hairs on it at first but that wasnt working so i used a brush with full bristles and put the paint over the engraving then wiped it after with a rag.   I tested it first on the tang for the grip and it didnt stain the cerakote so i went with that.   Pics suck compared to in person.   I started the blue for the shirt this morning before work but didnt get a pic of that yet.
