Quoted: Looks good. Just wanted to remind everyone that there is a burger that exists where the buns are each actually grilled cheese sandwiches, and then the actual burger is in the middle. It's called the double coronary bypass and is made at Vortex. The only bad thing is, you have to venture into Atlanta to get to either location. View Quote Local joint here has one. Even has bacon on it. I got one once. Half of one is more than enough. It was RICH. |

Yeah, it's too tall for me. The chef cannot make-up his mind as to what should go into his sandwich and what should not go.
|

I can push that back. My one and only skill is eating ungodly quantities of food. And, I’m not fat.

That looks awesome! I save those kind of meals for the ol’ expense account!

Tried both bison and wagyu. Good, but not wow.
Used ground lamb a couple of nights ago. Main cheese was Tillamook sharp white cheddar, but topped with pepperoncini, red onion, tomato, cucumber, black olive and feta...most of the ingredients of a good Greek salad. Toasted hardy brown bun with light mayo and stone ground deli mustard. It was surprisingly really good, will do again. One caveat...the frying pan, lid, range and all the counter top in a three foot radius was a disaster area. Not sure lean ground lamb exists... |

[Sigh] I miss when $10 was an outrageous price for a hamburger.

I wonder if I’m the only man left in America who enjoys a simple hamburger or cheeseburger without a dozen other things covering up the beef flavor. I like a little lettuce, fresh tomato, and an onion slice for toppings.
Those sloppy, gloppy messes with eggs, bacon, barbecue sauce, pulled pork, etc. on them make me want to heave. No offense, OP. I’m glad you enjoyed your meal. |
|
I have food that's supposed to be good because it's a bunch of bullshit in a pile
|
|
Maybe $12, if the fries were included and you already ate 2/3 of them.
Fucking lol "A fool and his monies are easily parted." ETA: after reading comments - you people think that's a large burger? Multiple meals? No wonder America is fat... no one actually works anymore. Otherwise, that would be a great way to replace some calories. |
|
...and this is why America is obese.
My family can each have a ribeye steak and green beans made at home on the grill for that price and be healthy/lean. Plus ribeye is better than any burger... |

Quoted: I hate the trend that "gourmet" burgers need to be absurdly large. It looks great in a photo, but is kind of a hassle to eat. I went to Gordon Ramsay's Burger in Vegas and you had to take two or three bites from the bottom up to get everything. What's great about a burger, or any sandwich is the combination or flavors, and you lose that when you can't get all the ingredients in a single bite. View Quote |

Every year when I visit Miami I have a few $20 something dollar burgers, that’s about the norm. Overpriced? Sure? Good burgers? For the most part yes. Worth it? No, but what really is these days. My fav was from a place called The Meat Market on Lincoln Ave. I believe it’s closed now but they had delicious food. If you think that $28 is bad for a burger, how about $28 for a latte? Now that’s ridiculous lol

Not my thing.
That's not a burger, It's a conglomerate of meats made to look like a burger. |

Burger in OP would feed me for 2 days, and I'd still have leftovers for the birds because I would get bored with it.
One thing I've never liked about American restaurants is the portion size. I'd rather have a few bites of various things they do well. Kind of the Spanish tapas thing, small plates that I can sample and not pig out. Something I loved about Mexico was street tacos. Buy one for 69 cents USD, eat it. Go back for another, different meat/condiment combo. Eat like that till you're satiated and not have a big to-go box that festers in the fridge like a science experiment. |

Thurman Cafe in German Village Columbus Ohio has been doing big burgers for a long time. Had my first there in the mid-1980s. A bargain at $25.99 including fries and a pickle spear. Not my pic, not my granny.

I'm with the majority on this one. You should be able to pick up a burger with your hands and take a bite , and taste all of the ingredients in each bite. The meal in OP's picture looks like a meat loaf that the chef decided to put on a bun & hold together with a kabob skewer. If that's the trend and the chef is making money with it then , hey .... congrats to him. But it isn't for me. Nothing about that looks appetizing to me... and for the money that costs I can eat a nicer meal.
Also, for those bringing up the idea of eating off of the leftovers for multiple meals .... reheating a hamburger doesn't work right. The buns, the vegetables , the condiments... they were all at different temps when that "burger" was assembled. Reheating the leftovers together doesn't work. It'll never be as good as it was when it came out of the kitchen. A burger is one of those meals that has to be eaten right then & there when its served hot. That's it. That's your shot. Order what you can eat ATM. Anything else is wasted money. |

Fortunately I only had the one meal and due to some extreme illness over the last 18 months the only thing I eat without getting sick is meat, so I picked off the lettuce and buns and ate the rest with a fork. It was still a lot to eat. I usually eat two meals a day and I think that pile of meat was bigger than my entire day's worth of food typically. But it was yummy. I like brisket on a burger, first time I've had that. |

There is a place in Talkeetna Alaska that has a burger they call the Seward's Folly, I watched a man and a woman at separate tables eating one while I was there. She finished but he did not, I don't remember if it was free if they finished it in an hour or they just got a t-shirt. Either way it was way over the top with over 5 pounds of meat - 2 lbs of ground caribou, a pound of bacon, sliced ham and a buttload of cheese. I guess by Alaskan standards $65 for that much meat might seem like a decent price, I could eat on that burger for a week.
