No, it has not.

Last year about this time I was paying $ 2.59 a lb for 80/20 US ground Beef.  Last week I paid $ 3.69 for 80/20 US ground Beef.

Now, I buy it bulk wholesale, and sell it packaged retail.  I buy a fair amount of it, and I price shop from my suppliers.  I do this to give myself a healthy profit margin as well as treat my customers as well as I can.  Has beef gone up.  Yes, as it shown above.  Has the price tripled.  No.  My cost would by $ 7.77/lb if the price tripled.

It went up about 30%, and will likely continue to increase.

Making up figures to cause people to panic is not appropriate.  There are enough issues to be concerned with already, but to spout incorrect information does nothing but harm people trying to decide where to prioritize their preparations.  Our nation will be better served by people taking thoughtful action with knowledge of the true situation rather than panicked decisions due to made up numbers.

Edited to add, this is one reason I really do not care for a lot of the sensational you tuber's.  Their motto seems to be anything for a click, honest reporting some where down the list.

Crooks used the same large private outdoor range that homeland security often used.

My working hypothesis is that a "talent spotter" met Crooks during the Blackrock commercial filming, and then a "Professor Raoul X" was guided to him. It would be child's play for a "sympathetic older gentlemen" to frequently meet Crooks there, not only for firearms practice, but for clandestine ops tradecraft education in general. Covert communications, explosives, etc. And then to stoke Crooks' hatred of Trump, and finally to give him tips about the Butler rally site. While the USSS had "coincidental" security lapses.

It was late June and I was sitting in a café seven hundred miles from home, doing a little web surfing. There was plenty of room at mid-morning, so I could sit at the end of the coffee bar with my laptop. I was scanning the breaking news about the new mass-shooting. Like most people I was morbidly fascinated with the deranged young man who was the killer. That is, the trigger puller. But I was looking over his shoulder for something else: signs of a guiding hand.

Why? Because I know something about the subject.

One error with a 5% probability of happening is not impossible to accept.  It may not smell right, but at least it's within the normal boundaries of events.

However, the "errors" on July 13th with a less than 1% chance of happening included:

➡️ Leaving the AGR building out of SS control and off the 'zone of importance' map.

➡️ Both ESU snipers in the 2-story building left it completely unguarded for various reasons for precisely the 2.5 minutes Crooks accessed the roof and fired.

➡️Only private citizens, but not one of dozens of ELO around the AGR buildings saw Crooks bear crawling up the roof.

➡️ Whoever fired 'shot #9' (the presumptive ESU shot at Crooks) somehow managed to get in position to take that shot a mere 0.87 seconds after the other shots had been fired.  Is this why they don't want to tells us where and when the ESU shot was taken?

➡️ US Secret Service somehow never got the message that there was a serious problem a 9-iron away and let Trump take the stage and left him there until after the shooting.

0.01 x 0.01 x 0.01 x0.01 x0.01 = 0.0000000001

Which is why everyone is a tiny bit suspicious.

Did Thomas Crooks have a deep state handler?
Paging Professor Raoul X

https://steelcutter.substack.com/p/did-thomas-crooks-have-a-deep-state

Thomas Matthew Crooks belonged to and frequented the Clairton Sportsman’s Club, 20 minutes from his house.

Note the many widely spread out shooting venues, the roofed shooting positions, all surrounded and separated by woods. If you zoom in on Google satellite view, you will see many picnic tables and other locations for private conversations, where laying out gear would be totally unremarkable. The shooting club would provide ample “cover for action” in the spook vernacular. This club would be an ideal place for Crooks to be guided and trained in the physical in-real-life dark arts, not merely the virtual ones to be found on the internet by his inquisitive mind.

It would be child's play for a "sympathetic older gentlemen" to frequently meet Crooks at the club, not only for firearms practice, but for clandestine ops tradecraft education in general. These would include covert communications, manufacturing explosives, remote control detonation, flying drones etc. Untold hours over weeks and months could be spent in private at any of the numerous picnic tables or covered shooting areas going over Crooks’ operational gear, practicing with tactical radios, drones, etc.

I sort of thought this was already in place.

China Wants to Start a National Internet ID System

It’s hard to be anonymous online in China. Websites and apps must verify users with their phone numbers, which are tied to personal identification numbers that all adults are assigned.

Now it could get more difficult under a proposal by China’s internet regulators: The government wants to take over the job of verification from the companies and give people a single ID to use across the internet.

The Ministry of Public Security and the Cyberspace Administration of China say the proposal is meant to protect privacy and prevent online fraud.

A national internet ID would reduce “the excessive collection and retention of citizens’ personal information by internet platforms on the grounds of implementing real-name registration,” the regulators said.

Use of the ID system by websites and apps would be voluntary, according to the proposal, which is open for public comment until the end of August.

The Chinese government has for years exercised tight control over information and it closely monitors people’s behavior on the internet. Over the last few years, China’s biggest social media platforms, like the microblogging site Weibo, the lifestyle app Xiaohongshu and the short video app Douyin, have started to display users’ locations in their posts.

🚨🚨🚨 EXCLUSIVE: A Secret Service counter sniper sent an email Monday night to the entire Uniformed Division (not agents) saying he will not stop speaking out until "5 high-level supervisors (1 down) are either fired or removed from their current positions." The counter sniper also said the agency "SHOULD expect another assassination attempt" before November and complained that he is no longer proud to be a USSS counter sniper after leadership failed the officers at the Trump rally in Butler on 7/13.

"This agency NEEDS to change," the sniper wrote in the email. "If not now, WHEN? "The NEXT assassination in 30 days?"

"Sadly we have fallen short for YEARS," the counter sniper lamented. "We just look good doing it. I have conveyed these thoughts to not only supervisors (to include the current Captain of CS, but those responsible for training us (SOTS/CS). Only to be brushed off as those with less experience somehow knew more than me."

"The team I was once proud to be a part of, is something I have to somehow hide as I move into my next career," the counter sniper continued. "Who wants to hire a USSS CS guy who failed? That's the public perception I'm not faced with. The USSS CS team is a stain I will never be able to cleanse."

He concluded with these two lines: "The motto of the USSS...CYA. And every supervisor is doing it right now."

The agency quickly deleted the email, a knowledgeable source told RealClearPolitics.

French supermarket to trial payment by…the palm of your hand

The trial will coincide with the Paris Olympics. The technology is already used in the US and China

French supermarket Carrefour is bringing a whole new meaning to the question ‘How are you paying?’, as it trials a new system that takes neither cards nor cash, but the palm of the shopper’s hand.

Carrefour Market, in the 6th arrondissement in Paris near the île de la Cité, will trial the payment method from July 29. It is the first of its kind in Europe, Carrefour has said.

The technology - developed by payment terminal specialist Ingenico - works by ‘palm biometrics’ and uses the veins in your hand to validate the payment.

Before use, customers register their vein pattern on a dedicated terminal, and link it to their bank card. The customer can make a purchase by simply holding the palm of their registered hand over a dedicated payment terminal.

“This system ensures a high level of security for personal and banking data,” said Carrefour. “[It] will make the checkout experience smoother and improve the customer experience.”

The roll-out date has been chosen specifically to coincide with the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, and the high influx of visitors expected in the capital during the events, the supermarket added.

The technology is already used by retail giant Amazon in its Whole Foods shops in the US (via the app Amazon One), and is also used in China, usually via the brand WeChat Palm Pay.

The video below shows a WeChat Palm Pay system in use in a convenience store in China.

Modern technology is beginning to use biometrics more and more; many smartphones already use thumbprint, iris, and face recognition for payments or other important validation tasks.

After listening to the cavalier attitude of the USSS acting director, I could not trust any of them if I were Trump.

ETA - I think this shows that our country is in far worse shape than any of us ever realized.

"Weird": new word for "propaganda"

"Weird" seems to be the newest word dangled in front of the mockingbird media which has quickly assumed it as a favorite adjective to describe Trump and Vance. What's actually weird is how easily these descriptions take hold in the media when they seem to be obviously inserted directly by the puppeteers.

[Last Edit: Alacran] [#16]

🇧🇷 I’m living deep in the Brazilian jungle, far from light pollution, woke culture, and processed foods. As promised, here’s a look at my daily routine:

⏰ I wake up around 8 am after at least 9 hours of sleep. My morning starts with feeding my Rhode Island Red chickens and gathering fresh eggs. I also love exposing myself to the morning sunlight while tending to my raised bed garden, weeding, and snacking on some flavonoid-rich berries. If it’s dry and the lawn is trimmed, I do barefoot gardening. Since the rainforest is home to venomous spiders and snakes, I always stay cautious and keep the area around the house clean.

👨🏻‍🌾 Until noon, I usually work outside or in the greenhouse. During the rainy season, I get sun until early afternoon, followed by heavy rainfalls. I recently designed a Kon-Tiki kiln and had a local workshop craft it for me. I use it to create my own charcoal, enriched with indigenous microorganisms collected using bamboo sticks filled with rice from the jungle. Before adding them to the cooled charcoal, I multiply them in self-made bioreactors. This charcoal then becomes an ingredient for 'terra preta,' a very dark, fertile anthropogenic soil found in the Amazon Basin, also known as Indian black earth. Combined with compost, I provide my plants with all the nutrients they need, which would otherwise be impossible due to the poor quality of jungle soil.

🍲 I have my first meal at 1 pm, as I’m a supporter of intermittent fasting. I primarily eat food I’ve grown myself and try to eat as much meat as possible. The only foods I buy are salt, raw milk, olive oil, and fatty fish. I don’t use vegetable oils, just like I don’t use pronouns. After lunch, I enjoy a walk in the jungle with my two dogs before hitting my home gym for an hour, focusing on big muscle groups. In addition to Vitamin D, Omega-3, and creatine, I supplement with Shilajit, Ashwagandha, and Fenugreek to keep my testosterone levels naturally above 1000 ng/mL—so I won’t end up looking like Buttigieg one day. lol

💻 In the afternoon, I usually write informative posts on this platform (or post memes if I’m short on time) and work on my Vitamin D startup, @sunfluencer (you can support me by giving it a follow). I built a small, climate-controlled studio in the jungle, which is the perfect environment to be creative and stay focused. I live far from civilization (30 minutes by car, which is literally the time window one has if bitten by a deadly snake). But thanks to Starlink, 11 kWp solar panels, and 22 kWh battery capacity, a ‘connected’ life in the jungle is possible. However, when it rains heavily, Starlink sometimes loses connection to the satellites, which is the perfect time to relax in the hammock and read a book. Alternatively, I preserve vegetables and fruits by pickling or fermenting them. It’s much better than watching the news or reading the newspaper, which I avoid anyway since they’re mostly lies and propaganda.

🌙 At night, I usually have some meat for dinner. Instead of ketchup, I use homemade pesto made from basil leaves I grow in my hydroponic greenhouse system. After dinner, I enjoy the complete silence of nature and work on my book about living a perfectly healthy life. I use the program f.lux to filter out blue light on my laptop; otherwise, I’d probably still be awake at midnight.

Even though it can be a bit lonely in the middle of nowhere, I enjoy living as a free human being. Instead of fluoride-contaminated tap water, I drink water from my own springs. Instead of buying vegetables and fruits contaminated with Roundup, I harvest my own produce, which may not look as perfect as store-bought, but is far more nutritious and delicious. I’m also not exposed to thousands of 5G, Wi-Fi, and other forms of radiation and can see the Milky Way with my bare eyes.

Although I live a rather simple life, it couldn’t be any better. Leaving civilization and my home country behind in 2021 was a significant step, but I have no regrets. If my description sounds like your dream, go for it. If I can achieve this, so can you.

Security firm experiencing nightmare after learning remote employee is North Korean hacker

The US State Department also opened an indictment against a North Korean hacker

A digital security firm got the shock of a lifetime when it came to light that one of its remote workers was actually a North Korean hacker after he infected his new company laptop with malware.

"The moment it was received, it immediately started to load malware," security firm KnowBe4 wrote in a blog post about the incident. The company stressed that "no illegal access was gained, and no data was lost, compromised or exfiltrated on any KnowBe4 systems."

"KnowBe4 needed a software engineer for our internal IT AI team," the company explained. "We posted the job, received resumes, conducted interviews, performed background checks, verified references and hired the person. We sent them their Mac workstation, and the moment it was received, it immediately started to load malware."

KnowBe4 hired the unnamed employee and noticed "a series of suspicious activities" on July 15 after sending a Mac laptop to the employee for work purposes. The company reached out to the user, but the employee responded that he was troubleshooting a "speed issue" and may have "caused a compromise."

‘Really Chilling’: Five Countries to Test European Vaccination Card

Belgium, Germany, Greece, Latvia and Portugal will test the new vaccination card in a variety of formats, including printed cards, mailed copies and digital versions for smartphones. Critics called it a “direct threat to freedom.”

Five European Union (EU) countries in September will pilot the newly developed European Vaccination Card (EVC), which “aims to empower individuals by consolidating all their vaccination data in one easily accessible location.

The pilot program marks a step toward the continent-wide rollout of the card, according to Vaccines Today.

Belgium, Germany, Greece, Latvia and Portugal will test the new card in a variety of formats, including printed cards, mailed copies and digital versions for smartphones.

The program aims to “pave the way for other countries by harmonising vaccine terminology, developing a common syntax, ensuring adaptability across different healthcare settings, and refining EVC implementation plans,” Vaccines Today reported.

The plans will be made public in 2026, “extending the EVC system beyond the pilot phases and enabling broad adoption across all EU Member States.”

Argentina will use AI to ‘predict future crimes’ but experts worry for citizens’ rights

President Javier Milei creates security unit as some say certain groups may be overly scrutinized by the technology

Argentina’s security forces have announced plans to use artificial intelligence to “predict future crimes” in a move experts have warned could threaten citizens’ rights.

The country’s far-right president Javier Milei this week created the Artificial Intelligence Applied to Security Unit, which the legislation says will use “machine-learning algorithms to analyse historical crime data to predict future crimes”. It is also expected to deploy facial recognition software to identify “wanted persons”, patrol social media, and analyse real-time security camera footage to detect suspicious activities.

While the ministry of security has said the new unit will help to “detect potential threats, identify movements of criminal groups or anticipate disturbances”, the Minority Report-esque resolution has sent alarm bells ringing among human rights organisations.

Experts fear that certain groups of society could be overly scrutinised by the technology, and have also raised concerns over who – and how many security forces – will be able to access the information.

Amnesty International warned that the move could infringe on human rights. “Large-scale surveillance affects freedom of expression because it encourages people to self-censor or refrain from sharing their ideas or criticisms if they suspect that everything they comment on, post, or publish is being monitored by security forces,” said Mariela Belski, the executive director of Amnesty International Argentina.

Meanwhile, the Argentine Center for Studies on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information said such technologies have historically been used to “profile academics, journalists, politicians and activists”, which, without supervision, threatens privacy.

Milei, a far-right libertarian, rose to power late last year and has promised a hardline response to tackling crime. His security minister Patricia Bullrich reportedly seeks to replicate El Salvador’s controversial prison model, while the administration is moving towards militarising security policy, according to the Center for Legal and Social Studies. The government has also cracked down on protests, with riot police recently shooting tear gas and rubber bullets at demonstrators at close range, and officials threatening to sanction parents who bring children to marches.

The latest measure has prompted an especially strong reaction in a country with a dark history of state repression; an estimated 30,000 people were forcibly disappeared during its brutal 1976-83 dictatorship, some thrown alive from planes on so-called “death flights”. Thousands were also tortured, and hundreds of children kidnapped.

A ministry of security source said that the new unit will work under the current legislative framework, including the Personal Information Protection Act mandate. It added that it will concentrate in applying AI, data analytics and machine learning to identify criminal patterns and trends in the ministry of security databases.

'New pandemic' could sweep UK this year as urgent warning issued

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has declared a 'level 4' bird flu outbreak after the virus jumped from cows to humans, sparking fears of a new pandemic

A new bird flu scare has hit the UK, with health chiefs sounding the alarm over a "level 4" outbreak as the virus makes an unprecedented leap from cows to humans.

The boffins at the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) are on edge, admitting they're clueless about how this outbreak will pan out and that current safety measures don't seem to be able to cope with it.

Dr Susan Hopkins, from the UKHSA, has warned: "The recent outbreak in US dairy cattle demonstrates that influenza A(H5N1) continues to infect new mammals and spread between them. While the current risk to the UK population from influenza A(H5N1) virus remains very low, an outbreak of this kind can increase the opportunities the virus has to evolve to spread between people at some point in the future."

"This is because the virus may adapt directly during transmission between mammals or may re-assort with other flu viruses in humans or other mammals. UKHSA has established preparations in place for detections of human cases of avian flu and stands ready to initiate an appropriate public health response should it be needed", reports various news outlets."

And not really attempting to calm fears, a UK Health Security Agency spokesman said: "There is high uncertainty regarding the trajectory of the outbreak and there is no apparent reduction in transmission in response to the biosecurity measures that have been introduced to date."

According to the NHS, the main symptoms of bird flu can appear very quickly and include:

- a very high temperature or feeling hot or shivery
- aching muscles
- headache
- a cough or shortness of breath

Other early symptoms may include:

- diarrhoea
- sickness
- stomach pain
- chest pain
- bleeding from the nose and gums
- conjunctivitis

They also warns that it usually takes three to five days for the first symptoms to appear after you've been infected, and that within days of symptoms appearing, it's possible to develop more severe complications such as pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

I was surprised how a "right candidate" won the "elections" in Argentina, which has notoriously fraudulent elections, like most (if not all) Latin American countries, and the US, for what it matters.

Things like this help explaining how some "black horses" win "elections" and then start doing their "things".

Indeed.  However, Costco's main business model is to make the big bucks in its membership program, not the sales margins, which are negligible.  The company lately has been cracking down hard on members who lend their cards to others and even cancelling violators.  I already saw a couple being caught and pulled out of the cashiers lines.

On top of it, one day I forgot my card and when I showed my wife's card to the cashier (she had gone back to pick something she forgot and I remained in the line), the cashier asked me where was the card owner and she could not process the sale without seeing the card owner.  My wife came back and we went through.  It shows that the membership revenue is really important.

So, I'm still not sure whether it's Costco cherrypicking items to overprice, since I saw the same trend in other chains (Kroger, Albertsons, etc.).

It seems that there's a "special attention" to animal stuff.  Another example, here in WA "suddenly" there has been announcements about how the chicken eggs "inspection" has lapsed and "there's a big risk for diseases" if consuming such product.

As the latest buzzword says, "it's weird".

UPDATE: TEXAS VS US AT SOUTHERN BORDER

A US appeals court has ruled that the State of Texas can keep a 1,000-foot floating barrier in the Rio Grande river in order to deter illegal immigration. The decision, issued by the New Orleans-based 5thCircuit Court of Appeals, reverses a preliminary injunction previously granted by a lower court.

The US has multiple lawsuits ongoing against Texas, arguing that environmental damage is being done by new border-security apparatuses, that the state has no legal authority to enforce border security since it is a Federal charge, that floating barriers inappropriately hinder navigation, and more.

Texas Governor Greg Abbot wrote on X, "I fought to keep them in the water. That is exactly where they will stay.”

The Biden Administration, which is engaged in the litigation, has not immediately responded to the ruling.

Whitney Webb was sounding the alarm on Milei back when he was first elected.  What’s concerning is she’s talking now about JD Vance, Peter Thiel and how they may affect a future Trump administration.

I’m afraid technologically will play a big part in all of our lives no matter what political choices we are given.

Trump is very smart and intelligent but he showed in his past administration that he needs to improve how he picks people around him.

I agree that technology is important and will play bigger and bigger roles in our lives.

My concern is how it's used.  Most of the stuff nowadays can benefit mankind by leaps and bounds, or be like chains and dungeons.  Evidence has unfortunately been pointing towards the latter.

Totally agree.  I want to hear more f the “You’re Fired!” Donald Trump than the “Compromise.” Donald Trump from his last term.  With the existing government & business structure firmly in place, I have to wonder how much power he will actually have if he does get back in the White House?

Need to build a border wall around the entire state

I was initially against building a wall, more in favor of the use of actual people and technology.  With the recent collapse of anything that’s considered to be a border, we absolutely need a physical barrier now as well as the use of people and technology.

All of the above is the only solution to border security.  The trump walls are pretty darn good and force folks to entry points, if ever completed.  That's where ya have most of the people securing it, and those entry points need to be able to close the door very securely as well.

Sadly, we are going to need that same infrastructure on our northern border, too.  The modern era has eroded all of our once secured boundaries, even including our coastal boundaries.

We should be protecting all our borders and our shores as well.  Like every other country on earth does

This sounds very alarming. But I wonder how much is legitimate concern and has much is her company shilling gold and silver.   I’m old enough to remember when the investor class ridiculed the Gold bugs back in the 1970s and 1980s. I followed the price of gold for a few years and saw it did not perform as well as the Dow Jones.  Yet the gold bugs were always forecasting a disaster right around the corner, and the solution was Buy Gold Now.

Are conditions really that much different now?

Current spot price of gold.  Seems to be ramping up.  But I’m an amateur at this stuff.

ETA:  I am reluctant to buy based on this graphic. My thinking has always been “Buy cheap, sell dear.”  It’s looks pretty high to me right now.

Ireland, UK and much of Europe are doing the same thing we are.  We are killing our own western culture.

All news is biased to some extent.  Most programs I’ve seen lately do say that precious metals are not an investment but just a hedge against inflation and currency value fluctuation.  I’ve heard that the value of precious metals are currently being suppressed by the US and European allies in the economic war against Russia and China since their economies are backed by gold.

As far as the strength of the economy goes, I’ve heard several sources saying things are coming to a head very soon.  That coincides with some theories that Trump will be allowed to win so he will have to deal with the coming economic crash.  As your graph indicates, the price of gold & silver have increased notably over the past year but is that just a sign of gold catching up to match a weakening dollar?

In a world full of lies and misinformation, who knows what will happen and what won’t happen?  Everything feels like a crapshoot, anyway.

This is of interest to me - thanks for posting this

I had no idea that something like this was / is in the works.
I am wondering how they gone roll that out and if they will only pick some people to be part of this program.

Will be interesting to see how this is implemented

One thing about the German Health System is everybody has a Medical Card it has your picture, name on it. Plus it has a chip that contains all other information about the person. You have to get it scanned every time you visit your doctor. This is how they get all the medical information.
They could certainly use that since really everybody has one of those Cards
