Ecuador to impose blackouts due to severe drought

Ecuador will implement nationwide nighttime blackouts and teleworking in the public sector as the worst drought in decades threatens the country’s hydroelectric plants, the government announced on Tuesday.

The measures, which will be implemented from Thursday, are due “to the worst drought in the last 61 years and aim to responsibly manage the control of our electrical system,” a presidential statement said.

A nightly eight-hour power cut from 10:00 pm will be imposed next week from Monday to Thursday due to the drought affecting the reservoirs of several hydroelectric plants, which are the nation’s main source of power.

“The established cut-off time has been chosen with the aim of generating the least possible impact on productive activities and the working day,” the presidency said.

Teleworking would also be implemented in the public sector on Thursday and Friday of this week and next, it added.

The government had already announced a general blackout lasting eight hours from 10:00 pm this Wednesday for “preventive maintenance” on the energy transmission system.

Interior Minister Monica Palencia said it would be accompanied by a curfew as a security measure in the South American country, which is plagued by gang violence.

Ecuador imposed electricity rationing of up to 13 hours a day in April due to the drought.

The country faces an energy deficit of about 1,000 megawatts, of which at least 100 MW will be covered by a thermal-power-generating barge hired by the government.

Sheep and cattle populations in England at record low

Sheep and cattle populations in England are at a record low since Defra's annual census began, according to the latest available figures.

As of June 2024, the English sheep flock experienced a 4.3% decline year-on-year, equivalent to a reduction of 620,000 head.

For cattle, the pressure on margins and the recent robust beef prices are likely to have incentivised some culling.

The breeding herd fell by 2.2%, to total 1.7 million head and the dairy breeding herd saw a marginal decline of 0.6%.

The beef breeding herd drove the decline, having fallen by 5.1%, accounting for 32,000 head, Defra's figures show.
While male numbers over two years of age increased, overall, male cattle numbers declined by 2.6%.

Can’t vouch for authenticity, but this isn’t the first video I’ve see where FBI agents visit someone over a social media post.  I’d think if this was a threat to kill a President, the subject would have been arrested.

ANSWER: I am not sure this report has gained much press, if any. This report paints a dark picture of the political failure in reigning in the Neocons. My criticism is that it does not explain the shenanigans of the Neocons. It does concede that there is a strategic inadequacy amid a time with the rapidly increasing danger of World War III. The Neocons have pushed us to the brink of war because they have control under the Biden Administration, which has prioritized their actions, overlooking our declining military power. This report said that we face the “most serious and most challenging” threats since 1945. That is an understatement. This even surpasses the previous close call we had in a nuclear confrontation where we went to Defcon 3 involving the Middle East, which was after the Cuban Missile Crisis that most historians overlook.

This report further elaborates on the real risk of “near-term major war.” The report even went further warning very clearly:

“The nation was last prepared for such a fight during the Cold War, which ended 35 years ago. It is not prepared today.”

It pointed out what I have been warning about regarding the linking of China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. It did note,

“China and Russia’s ‘no-limits’ partnership, formed in February 2022 just days before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, has only deepened and broadened to include a military and economic partnership with Iran and North Korea. . . . This new alignment of nations opposed to U.S. interests creates a real risk, if not likelihood, that conflict anywhere could become a multitheater or global war.”

The report concluded that war can break out but that “the U.S. military lacks both the capabilities and the capacity required to be confident it can deter and prevail in combat.” It stressed what I have been yelling about: the US appears to lack the fortitude to prevent World War III, and they also warned that victory is not assured.

What I want to add is that Russia will assist Iran in getting over the hurdles for nuclear weapons. This is the development of the arrogance of our Neocons, who have never won a single war since World War II but have continued more than 50% of the national debt without interest expenditures.

I am afraid that party politics is playing far too great a role in this issue when it is only to our detriment. I am unaware that this report is a major revelation in the mainstream press, probably because it would point the finger at the Biden Administration. Not even the presidential candidates seem to talk about it. It seems to have gone over the heads of most in Congress as if nobody cares about anything anymore. If history teaches anything, China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea have chosen this moment in history to take a stand against the Neocons, who have caused others to look at America as an imperial power, quite the opposite of the American people.

17% Say America Would Be Better Off If Trump Had Been Killed

The desensitization of some Americans following the second assassination attempt of former President Trump is alarming. Seventeen percent (17%) of voters believe America would have been better off if former President Trump had been killed in last week’s attempted assassination.

That figure includes 28% of Democrats who say that America would have been better off if Trump had been assassinated. Another 24% of Democrats were not sure. Fewer than half (48%) of Democrats could bring themselves to say that America would not be better off if the opposing party’s candidate for president had been assassinated.

Scott Rasmussen, president of RMG Research, said “It is hard to imagine a greater threat to democracy than expressing a desire to have your political opponent murdered.”

Despite two assassination attempts in two months, just over half of all Democrats (51%) don’t see a need to increase Trump’s security detail. Among all voters, 62% think Trump’s security should be increased and 32% disagree.

Forty-nine percent (49%) of Democrats think it’s at least somewhat likely that Trump himself or the Trump campaign was involved with the assassination attempt, with 21% saying it was very likely. Fifty-two percent (52%) of Republicans think it’s at least somewhat likely that the Democratic Party or the Harris campaign was involved, with 28% saying it’s very likely.

These results are the latest evidence of how polarized the electorate has become this election season. Voters for both Trump and Harris overwhelmingly say they can’t understand how a reasonable person could vote for Trump or Harris.

Upon reviewing the data, Rasmussen noted that “I continue to believe that America’s best days are still to come. However, for years I’ve been saying that things will get worse before they get better. These numbers suggest that the phase of getting worse is clearly upon us.”

This Napolitan News Service survey of 1,000 Registered Voters was conducted online by Scott Rasmussen on September 16-17, 2024. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc.

SABOTAGED Family Farm Deliberately Targeted "This Was Intentional."

Ethan and Alexis Lawrence of Lawrence Family Farm in Essex Center Vermont came home from a vacation camping in Maine to find out that their hay harvest had been intentionally targeted in a carefully thought out sabotage attempt.

“It’s just really sad that it was so targeted by somebody who knew what they were doing,” Ethan Lawrence said. “The money doesn’t mean anything to me. It’s it’s the blood, sweat, and tears from me and my wife.”

Ethan 28 and Alexis 29 started their farm during the COVID years and developed a successful family business providing quality meat for their community.
