I don't have first hand experience with that knife but maybe someone will come along who does.

The Emerson wave feature is a lot of fun and allows for fast use. It also is useful for opening beer bottles.

As. Far as budget steels it's not bad and will take a good edge.

Thank you. I just want to make sure I'm not making a crappy decision. I know it is very low budget but I just can't afford much right now. I really liked the idea of the wave feature and wanted to try it out so this will hopefully let me try it without too much expense and I'm at least hoping the steel is somewhat better than the S&W I have. It was a spring assist knife and the safety recently started  loosening up allowing the knife to come open in my pocket.

I picked up a Skyline S30VCF from him that he had sharpened so I knew his work before I even knew about that thread.  $25 each to sharpen, 7 shipping for both.  Even if I wasn't a noob, the time it probably required to get those clusterf*cks to a mirror finish would probably have been beyond my patience.

It was my go to knife some years ago. Currently the 940-1 claims the role and I don't see it leaving it anytime soon. However this thread certainly makes me want a hell of a lot more knives.

You guys posting all these pics of Osbournes, isn't helping me.  I've been eyeing one for a while, and you guys may push me over the edge.  It seems like everyone loves them, I don't even think I've seen someone say that it's "meh".  Everyone seems to give it glowing reviews.

I believe every red-blooded American should have at least one Obsourne design in their collection. Must be at least the 940 to start with.

Do it, the 940 is a masterpiece. I'll snatch a 940-1 when I find one for a fair price.

The 940 is a great knife. Light enough to be a solid EDC but packs a lot of blade into the small frame.

Blade is a great shape for almost any task too

ETA:  I'm a horrible liar.  Can't keep a straight face.

Of the many knives I have, if I had to pick one right now to keep and get rid of all the others, it would probably be a 940 type. Although another Contego just fell into my lap, another Osborne design I really dig...no, probably still the 940 series.  Better size and shape for EDC generally.

You might like one.  Worth trying.  You can usually find a decent price on an unused one or lightly used one on the secondary market if you are looking to save a few bucks.  Seem to hold their value pretty well after the initial drop in the secondary market if you decide it isn't for you.

Speaking of which, how are you liking the Contego?

The last knife that got me like that was my PM2.  I have to make myself carry something different.  I'd be pretty happy with that one in my pocket most days.  I think it's the build quality that does it.  I was a Kershaw junkie before, but the American made spydies seem to be a tick up from Kershaw.

My current "needs work" is a fairly rare factory g10 model, which I used to carry a lot, but I noticed that the lock will slip.(you can close it like a stiff slipjoint). I quit carrying it after I found that.  I should call Kershaw, but I'm worried that their fix will be a new, unmarked blade.

While I was waiting for it to arrive, another one popped up that was essentially new in box with all the goodies, for $125.   But someone beat me claiming it.    So I just put in a claim for seconds if the deal fell through. It did not.

Then the first one came in. Held it, loved it.  But it was dirty and could stand to be touched up so for a few bucks I sent it off immediately to BKC for spa treatment.

Out of nowhere yesterday, the guy that bought the second one reached out to me and said hey, it is everything the seller said it was, but the scales are just way to agrressive for me, do you want it for the original asking price? I said yes please

So number two is on its way to me.  I currently have none, but own two

I had this problem with 940s too.  They accumulated quickly. I sold 1 of my 940-1s, probably going to sell my 940-1501 and get it down to just 2 940s. Figure with two Contegos I can see which I like better and sell the other, or if the second one is really as good as it is supposed to be, maybe I save it as a gift for someone, keep and use the first one.  I was looking for a long time as I know others were, so no lack of market if I did want to sell again. We will see.

It's a solid knife. The standard version is pretty aggressive but it makes sense when you get to working with it. It's really nice when wearing gloves.

It's got that awesome blade shape and grind that takes advantage of M4. It's a beast but refined when it needs to be.

No where near as nice as Kuraki's but it's still neat. The blade to have an upward angle in comparison to the handle I'm not sure I like.

He's held it and cut with it. He agrees with me that it cuts way better now but is kinda ugly. I've sharpened a few of his knives for him never reprofiled them.

He thinks I'm an idiot for buying it in the first place. He's very much anti-overbuild folders, and generally anti Hinderer . I think he's got a bad taste in his mouth since he over paid a few years ago when the Hinderer secondary market was insane and got one of the old ones with shitty action.
