I eat an orange every day with my lunch. The guys I work with know I like knives and most of my EDC are not "cheap" (940, WE, or PM2) but don't have an idea about the large Insingo. One gives me shit saying how I spend so much money on knives but only cut up an orange every day. I'm not even going to attempt to try and explain any CRK.

That's how many people I work with are. I have some knife friends, and have converted a few.

Of my knife friends some are way crazier than I but I'm pretty middle of the road.

Great looking knife. I was going to buy one at Cabelas until I picked it up. Felt like a cheese grater in my hand. I guess I am soft palmed wimp.

My friend had a 1911 he had "customized" by some dude. It was like holding the  part of a box grater that is designed for hard cheeses. The part where it's just holes with spikes. He said it was for "all weather"

You need to work somewhere with cooler people.
Most of my friends and co workers think spending more than $30 on a knife is crazy.  A few folks have nicer things.  I know two dudes that have pm2s as their only knives. (They both got them from the px in Iraq) and one dude with a nice benchmade that he got as a gift from his son.

I'm the only one I know that has a rotation of pocket knives.

ETA: I just threw an abused kitchen knife in there this morning for S&G. Wow, the diamond stones cut through that cheap steel like nothing.  And very pleased with the one handed controls for the angle and clamping. I better watch some you tube videos or find some instructions before I do anything nicer.

I'm guessing this will be addressed if I watch some vids, but since this is a discussion forum, maybe you guys have some practical tips on one issue I encountered already.

I (stupidly) threw a knife with DLC on it into the clamp, marred the finish. It didn't scratch or cut through the finish, just looks kinda crushed down where the jaws make contact.

Is this a matter of adjusting the clamping pressure somehow or putting something on the clamp jaws like leather or rubber? Maybe the blade was too thick for the these jaws and I need to get the 1/4" jaws? Or is just something that will happen with DLC?

I use blue painters tape on the blade to prevent the marring.

Clay Allison is the inventor of the wicked edge. I like his videos the best.

Thin leather or chamois gives good purchase and protects knives from the clamps.
