It ain't all that great given the price tag (for them), great for us.

The one thing I don't like about it is the valves open and close super fast and water hammer the shit out of our pipes. I installed hammer arrestors shortly after getting it but I've noticed it's starting to do it again, so I might have to replace them.

I was a bit surprised to see an arrestor on my dishwasher supply line. I need some for my lawn sprinklers. Funny how a little thing can make a big difference.

I have always run my tap to get the hot water because I figure my gas water heater is more efficient than the electric dishwasher heating coil.

My Bosch has a sanitize cycle.

We had a kerosene on demand hot water heater when we moved in that was also from the 80's. It worked right up until it rusted through the exchanger 6 or 8 years ago and started leaking out water. Kind of loud, and it took a bit of extra time to get the water hot, but, it was impossible to run out and it rocked. Replaced with an electric unit that is flat out garbage. If you run it out, it is never going to catch up that day enough so that someone can take a full "relaxation" shower. I have a 100 gallon propane tank (no gas lines here) and want to run a line from that for one to see if a modern gas one works any better. Oh, and it has a programmable feature that lets the water cool down when it thinks you won't be using it. That makes it completely worthless - it has no where near enough heating capacity to catch up.

Didn't know they could heat the water at all - must have some inline heater or something instead of the exposed coil. So that's a plus. Doesn't make Bosch the end all be all for dishwashers any more though (there was a time that was certainly true).

Probably about as big as it will get this year before I put it back in dormancy, but there are still a couple new traps forming. Long legs were still moving - my wife started feeling sorry for them

Thanks.

Simple -
50/50 sand and peat moss
Never fertilize
Full sun outdoors from very early spring to very late fall (will handle light frosts fine). They are from the NC coastal plane where it snows sometimes etc.
Keep a tray under it with water in it during growing season
Let it get pretty cold for the winter (but not WI cold) and reduce watering in the tray when it is dormant. It should look dead then.
If it gets all the way dry, it will die, and if it never goes dormant it will suffer and eventually die

Express cycle worked fine, dishes clean. Maybe Bosch can replace Roberta. I might become one of those people.

I assumed most all modern dishwashers have a heating element for the water? The Bosch does not have one visible like Roberta did, but there is a sanitize cycle and I would imagine for optimal cleaning even with varying incoming water temps in different houses, there must be a sensor and heating element to ensure targets are met to do the job right.

They aren't exactly transparent about it. They say the final rinse for models with sanitize is longer and hotter, so they must be able to heat the water. I was under the impression many just run on the hot water line and consider that hot enough (and therefore don't have a sanitize cycle either) but could easily be wrong.

The heater I use for my aquarium sits in the line from the external pump and senses the temperature and heats the water going through it as opposed to an element sitting in the tank - seems like the only way to do it without the visible element in the washer.
