Did you sell all yours off or do we need to send them off to be smelted?  Can anyone take the material from them and make me a useful knife?

Shared a meat and cheese board with my three year old today at lunch. The workhorse of the day is a 1980s vintage Colonial electrician’s knife that I found last year at a gun show for $10. Can’t beat that deal!

I was in that group for a couple hours.

Bunch of shady fucks.

First thread I stumbled onto was one where a guy had agreed to sell a knife to someone, all he had to do was give the guy his email address for payment, guy kept asking for it, then next day said he sold it to someone else.

No reason given. Just decided to be a complete jackass.

People in the group defended the jackass.

I asked if anyone of them had heard of good faith dealing and there was no logical response, just he can do what he wants to do.

Inter person online sales are difficult in the best of times, doesn't help if you can't rely on basics of commerce when doing deals.

Told them they were morons I couldn't trust and showed myself out.

Connected with the would be buyer that got the short end of the stick later in a different group. He seemed solid as they come.

We are only as good as our word.

ETA: That is a good looking knife. Price seems reasonable to me.

Nope. Made them take it back. Didn't even have to mess around with going to a store/shipper as I had bought it off of a tool truck. The next week he came back, I threw it at him and said I wanted my money back.

Will do. Contoured/3D only on the starry night, or would you settle for flat, possibly as a temporary solution while still looking?

There were some flat ones sold on Reddit a day or two ago but I was too late again.

I've had the new Neon for a day and have a few [initial] observations. First, the action. The detent is strong and it doesn't tolerate any pressure on the lock bar when it's being flipped. However, it snaps open quickly because of the strong detent and locks up pretty early at 15%. There's no lock-stick and no slippage regardless of the early lock-up.

The finish is naked tumbled Ti and looks fantastic. I like anodization and colored carbon, but there's something ascetically pleasing about plain Ti.

As expected, the blade was sharp out of the box and has a shape similar to the F3 and 111...only smaller. Which, brings me to my next point; the knife is small. It's thin and light due to its internal milling. As such, it disappears into a pocket or IWB in dress attire. Regardless, I can fit all 4-fingers onto the handle, which is comfortable and devoid of any hotspot caused by the clip. The jimping on the blade is also inline with the current F3 and 111.

The MRBS is smooth and drops-shut. There's really nothing I dislike in the knife. Astetically, I suppose they could’ve cut the lock relief internally(?). But, there's probably a reason why they don't.

•excuse the white balance - too lazy to fix•

I dunno. It seemed like some of them there knew him, not all positive. Maybe there was some defending of their own. What got to me was that the group generally was advocating open ended deals with no good faith dealing. I realize I am an old man by this point and maybe the kids these days are dealing fast and loose, but without good faith dealing, no one will want to work with you because you burned too many doing that. Yet that is what these people were doing. In a group selling and trading mid priced collectible knives. It just didn't strike me as a sustainable practice. Sure, maybe in FB marketplace where people come and go and you have no relation to anyone else, but these knive groups tend to get a feel for each other. They aren't all like KTSF with 60k+ members (even then I feel like people generally know about many others in the group). It's not like there is a feedback system like BF or reddit or Arf to broadcast how you act. All you have is your word. And they were mostly advocating for shitty dealing. So odd.

another hard decision

I don't know sy, I know you said it was worth having it tuned, but I wore it most of the day yesterday, 10 minutes fast, and this morning it had stopped running.

I think they can tune it to keep better time. I am at a point where it needs to be done. It is off by at least five minutes after a couple days and more than 10 in three. At least it is fast and not behind.

But it never had a good reserve and I do not wear it every day all day. Even if they tune it, it will never keep good time unless I wear it all day every day.

This is a tough one as I do like it and I like it better than my other dress option.

Might be time to retire it...
