I have been tempted by that version to check out the steel for fun. Haven't gotten there.
I have this variant. It is a nice design |

Well all I need to make the one for y’all as well as one for another arfcommer are one order.
Would y’all fine gentlemen prefer a Magnacut, S110V, or M398? We will see if sendcutsend gets me the titanium before Bos gets me the blades back or not. I know the mcmaster order will be here pronto, had to order some more form taps. My initial one has done about 40 holes by now and after 35 or so some of the “teeth” (threads?) broke away. It still works to thread fine and I can’t see any defects on the threads. In any case I’d feel better getting a new one Attached File Progress today on the other 3. Attached File Attached File As you can see the Ti frame lock one has a much simpler screw set than the ones with scales. Playing with some ideas in my head to reduce the number of screws… there are some options. I will have to mess around in solidworks and see if I like the look of them though All the handles are rough shaped, they still need some final sanding and polishing. I think I will take the CF up to 1000grit or so. The G10 I will leave at 120 and the titanium I will scotch brite |

I don't think the steel makes much difference as I doubt any of us will beat on it much. More like ergos, function and usability. Personally I'm not a huge fan of S110V, I found it chippy. Magnacut seems good so far but it depends too on how far Bos will go with the heat treat. Will they get it up to 62+ or do they top out below that? I've never used M398 so it would be interesting to mess with that a bit and see what it's about. |

Knives first, then work. Don't go getting it all backwards like Kuraki did. Seriously though, good luck with the job! Hope it goes well for ya. |
