are the bronze grade spartan folders g2g? I'm a knife new and looking to buy something to edc a d don't want to spend too much. I was originally looking at a RAT 2, but since I learned about the Spartans, I'm leaning that way more. any thoughts on how the rat 2 and Talos/Astor compare?

All solid Designs. Distinct though. Does one speak to you more.
The CTS-XHP should have better edge retention which is typically a priority for me in folders, but it should still have decent toughness and be ok to sharpen. AUS8 is probably leaning towards higher toughness, less edge retention, but one of my favorite knives is in AUS8 and I use it regularly for opening packaging and have never sharpened it. It might even be AUS10. Personally, for a good all around working knife, I like 8” plus. Small knives have their place too, but a little more blade goes a long way for general use if you are just getting one. |

I found the Astor on knife center for the same price as the Talos but I don't like the shape as much. it's nice that they both use the same steel |

They're a legit dealer, no need to worry about ordering from them. If you're worried about the Talos being too small then Astor is the way to go. It took me a while to warm up to the Les George blade shape, but it is very effective. It makes for a nicely slicey knife. https://www.chicagoknifeworks.com/spartan-blades-astor-green-g10/ https://www.chicagoknifeworks.com/spartan-blades-astor-carbon-fiber-black-g10/ |
