Glenmorangie used to be a solid go to in the $40 range, no idea what it goes for now.

Same with Laphroaig for the campfire style.

Is the friend a scotch drinker? I think $80 is a sweet spot around here for alot of nice Scotches. For something in between those prices and those flavors, I think Highland Park 12 would be nice. So many to choose from with so many different flavors.

Good call. Glenmorangie 10 would be great for near $50. I would think anything from Laphroaig would be a bold move with the Peet unless they were accustomed to it.

Non ashtray: Aberlour is a solid pick at around 50 bones.

Ashtray : Ardbeg Wee Beastie or Laphroig 10

I really like Aberlour, but it's $70 around here.  Wee Beastie is 50 here and isn't bad for the price, but you can taste and feel the youth (5yrs) when you drink it.

Nyet.  Zladinox is alloy of Stalinium.  Very, very strong.

I was watching an Irish American comic on Amazon last night - he was busting on USA St. Patty's day BS. First off that (St. Patrick was a dude), and then on to the four leaf clover. It isn't a shamrock according to him which has three leaves and it has nothing to do with St. Paddy. He said it was like him coming here and getting a tattoo with a pidgeon and "bless the USA" or some such

"In the fifth century, the king asked Saint Patrick to explain the Trinity. Plucking a sprig of shamrock from the ground, St. Patrick used the three-leaved plant as a visual aid. St. Patrick and his shamrock traveled the country teaching Christianity.
This story begins earlier with the Celtic Druids. The Druids considered three a mystical number. Since the shamrock has three leaves, they considered it a sacred plant. Its status grew from there."

It is medium low but you can get into Glenmorangie - 10 YR for that price. Also depending on local pricing, Talisker 10YO should be about that. They are both I'd call balanced - some peat & smoke but not over the top. Laphroaig 10-Year for really smokey, little bit more $ though, and for really floral you kind of have to start with Macallan 12 but that is significantly more.

Around 80 would allow for the Balviene line up which are all great.

Also Ardbeg Uigeadail which is phenomenal in the campfire type.

Sure, that's much better than using something sustainable that isn't leaking dyes and chemicals into your food, and that actually looks good still without damaging your edges, like a wood, bamboo, or palm leaf plate.
