As to your edit, Seiko's own site says 20 for lug width as well.

42mm is plenty big enough for me. 20mm strap isn't a deal breaker at all either. I also prefer an inconspicuous date - cyclops are a no. I'd prefer that to be a black background with a white number on that watch but it still looks really good overall.
