Shakshuka to eat, and Defiant 7 Kumu.

Defiant 7 is a separate knife company owned by Les George and Chad Nichols (Nichols Damascus) to make projects that they collaborate on. All midtechs pretty much. They live pretty close to each other (according to the addresses on their websites).

Keep in mind all the retail listings I see now are pre Bidenflation, but I think they're planning a couple runs of knives this year and if they stick close to Les's normal pricing they'd be running about $400-500 depending on specifics.

I am kicking myself for not jumping on one of these I saw a while ago, on bladeforums I think it was, so I'm hoping that if they do make some knives this year they do some of more of them:

Yeah I really like that model, but same thing on the crystal.

The consensus seems to be that Citizen has better QC than Seiko.

QC has gone down by all reports. The Tissot will have better fit and finish and the highest QC.

For post 15,000 I thought I'd post a picture of the first knife I ever made and the last one that I finished.

I'm not sure where I got the information on how to go about it but the first one is made from a file that I softened by tossing it in the wood stove overnight and I hardened it by building a fire and blowing my shop vac into it. I don't remember for sure what I quenched it in but it was probably used engine oil. I didn't know that I needed to temper it. A 64 Rockwell C chisel skates on it. I'm amazed I didn't break it. The handle scales are made from canvas that I laid up with fiberglass resin and clamped between 2x4s in my press.

The most recent one is 1095 hardened to ~61 hrc and hollow ground with walnut scales with g10 pins and lanyard tube.

Attachment Attached File

Picked-up a Cold Steel AD10 last week on sale. Such a damn badass pocket knife. 4" of thick S35VN. And the rounded scales and finger groove make it feel heavenly. For the past couple of years I've been carrying strictly autos. But this AD10 looks like it'll do nicely. Small enough to fit in my pocket, but beefy enough to be a camp knife orccomplish other difficut tasks.

That one is actually hollow ground as well, it's just hard to see because it was on a ~2" wheel on a 4x36" belt sander.
