We were coming back from deployment to Qatar and Saudi Arabia, so it had been several months since we had alcohol. It was delicious! We got off in Shannon on my first hump over. I was at the back of the plane but they told us we could all have one beer. When I got off the plane and into the terminal bar, we were told to get back on the plane. Every other time through there we were not allowed to have any, even when going home. |

One of your guys fucked it up for everyone in record time.
We got to have two beers since we were there for 2 hours while they refueled the plane. We also got two beers aboard the ship when it had been at sea for longer than 30 days without a liberty call. Everyone chose Fosters cause the Oil Cans were 22 oz beers vs the paltry 12 oz of the other choices. It was kinda surreal slugging down Fosters on the flight deck of the USS Belleau Wood in Cammies in the middle of the Indian Ocean. |

He likes the butcher profile. I tell him it’s based on the Skallywag Tactical DuClaw. He asks where he can get one. I tell him eBay, because to my everlasting sorrow, the blade has been discontinued. A few weeks after, he brings a knife to class that he made. He knows that I do some woodworking, and asks me to make scales for his knife. The blade coating is Colt Gray Duracoat. The scales are cut from one piece of 3/8in maple (I think?) right on the line where it transitions light to dark. They were given a modified Rock texture before being given a long soak in Boiled Linseed Oil for liquid resistance and coloration, and then sun cured. Scales were glued on and then pinned in place with polished brass pins. The goal was to make this knife look rustic, maybe even primitive, and I think we achieved it. The next goal is to work with my fellow student on a line of 2 prototype knives and 2 prototype tomahawks which will be finished later this year, with the goal of putting them into small batch production early/mid next year. View Quote Hey that's pretty neat and a cool collaboration |

I must be out of the loop on new knife makers.
What's the draw of the Oz Machine knives? Seems to be well made, but that's a steep MSRP, never mind the secondary market. The blade shape and design doesn't really appeal to me, so I guess that may be why I don't get it. |

This is a knife that I traded to WIC, who promptly added the 45 ACP thumb disc, lanyard, and the canvas micarta scale from Sharp Dressed Knives for the ZT 0620/0630. Unfortunately, SDK discontinued those scales, which is why I went to suingab for my 0630 scale. |

They make every single part of that knife except the ceramic balls themselves. (Bearing cages used to be purchased as well, and on early knives I think the screws were also purchased.) 2. They're very limited production (because they make it all themselves) so demand exceeds supply, though this is getting better. 3. The build quality is top notch. 4. The putter milling in particular is super cool. 5. The ergos are fantastic. I was skeptical based on pics and measurements, but figured that with the hype I'd try one to see for myself. It's the real deal. Probably the best implementation of a "finger choil" ever. |
