Last night's beer fest brewer's pre-party. They put out their best / favorite / small batch / one-off beers etc. (pretty much every possible style from dozens of breweries).

There was a full cheek left when I got there too. I went with the vinegar sauce for the first plate.

And I had to pass a field sobriety test at a DUI checkpoint in the middle of nowhere on the way home -  nothing against police, but that was a bunch of JBT BS

IME, the face and neck don't usually get picked on as quickly as I'd expect most of the time.

The cheek and the top of the neck/back of the head are among my favorite bits of whole roasted pig.

Getting this one finished up is my goal for today.

I have some outside work I need to work on but everything is still wet from a storm last night.

As far as drawing and shooting, window is small put I could pick up the dot easily.
Would not carry in a holster, maybe my pack when fishing.

Kinda small, smushed it a bit, maybe it'll get better with use. Or some heat will open it up slightly.

It's been ages since I fired a lever gun, and I'd forgotten how much fun these are. I'd gotten stagnant on guns lately, and this was a good time.

There's surprisingly not much difference in recoil between the 357 and 38spl in a 20" barrel, but you can certainly hear the difference on steel. 38spl through this thing is so light, I could see shooting way too many rounds on a nice afternoon.

Take a look at the Holosun SCS MOS specifically for Glock pistols.
It is an open emitter, meaning debris can get in between the projector and the screen.
But like I said earlier, I don't think that's a deal breaker for most people.

Like I said in our conversation:
I don’t want to like Holosun, but they’re making what Trijicon, Leupold, and Aimpoint won’t.
And they’re doing it for far less money than T, L, & A are selling optics for.

Holosun is also supposed to be building a US Factory for LE/Mil optics (initially) sometime soon. Unfortunately, I don’t have an ETA.
Got that from their US sales rep at a match in May.

SCS MOS mounts directly to the slide of Glock MOS pistols. No adapter plate necessary.

One thing to consider though:
Never a Wick (member on the forum), shoots ALOT,(about 30k rds in a 6-9 month period), had screws fail on his optic (CZ Pistol), and the optic came off the gun.
I believe he suggested replacing optic screws every 3 years or 15k rds, whichever comes first.

I love shooting a .357 lever! I have a 16" and wouldn't mind having a 20" also. I worked up a few loads as hot as I could in my GP100 and they really fly with a rifle. I would never work up loads in the rifle just in case they would ever make if into a revolver. The new Marlin/Rugers look very nice. Recycled pic...

Looks like a great time! Excellent BBQ, good drinks, and good times with friends!

I'm not a fan of DUI check points either. IANAL, but I don't see how they pass 4th Amendment violations, but FWIW, they are far less common than they used to be. I cannot remember the last one in St Louis County.

They're really not, there actually is science behind them.
They are also a staple for defense attorneys to attack in court.
One of the local defense attorneys is an NHTSA certified type 2, (someone certified to instruct SFSTs and train others).
He makes a good living defending DUI arrests and wins often enough to have earned a good name.
Oddly enough, he's a former police officer and then went to work for the DEA.

That's an old Golden Lion Tamarin.

Fun fact, somewhere I have a photo of me holding a small Golden Lion Tamarin at the Singapore Zoo.
They have them running loose in the zoo like squirrels.
A buddy was able to coax one out of the tree by holding his debit card out and it attracted the monkey. He pulled away as the Tamarin got closer and like a moron, I put my hand out. The Tamarin jumped in my hand to get closer to the debit card.

Immediately after the photograph, (yes film) I was absolutely scolded by a zoo worker and aggressively directed to "put monkey back in tree!"
The monkey did not want to cooperate...took a few minutes.
Thankfully I did not get bitten.

They have substantially decreased spot checks here, but you're still better off drinking at home. Our local PD must have the best noses in the country, 'cause they can smell "an odor of intoxicants" in a heartbeat. And God-forbid you refuse a vehicle search.

I've seen a few guys ace SFST's and still get cuffed, it appears (to me) that it comes down to officer discretion.

If they want you to take the ride, you're takin' the ride.

If it makes you feel any better, the next couple aren't getting pineapple.

Killer. This is my first Henry, the last lever gun I had was a Marlin in 444. Absolute ass-stomper of a round and wasn't as much fun to shoot.

I have a few 45lc SAA's but now I feel like I need a 357/38 single action revolver of some flavor.

Checkpoints should be unconstitutional IMO.

Take a look at the Holosun SCS MOS specifically for Glock pistols.
It is an open emitter, meaning debris can get in between the projector and the screen.
But like I said earlier, I don't think that's a deal breaker for most people.

No, but the pistol fit into the holster. When carried there is no gap between pistol and holster.
Its tight against my body. The extra half inch it overhangs the slide makes it hard to grip when your trying to draw it out.

Buddy carries it OWB, that works for him.

Also he had some flavor of a G17 size Walther 9mm with a Leopold RDS.
I shot it well, this was the first time I was able to shoot any RDS.
Now I want a RDS.
But on a Glock.

@MaxxII
I don't think your understanding me.
I shot two different pistols with red dot sights. It was the first time I shot a pistol with a RDS.
Both pistols just happened to have Leupold red dots.
I did not say I was going to buy Leupolds, but I do want a RDS for one of my pistols.
And I'll stick with Glock perfection, I did not care for the Walther pistol the sight was on.

This is the only slide I have to mount a RDS, Go find me a deal on a SCS.

For real! Dad has a Win. '94 carbine in .44 mag I shot a lot as a kid and hunted with some when I was a bit too small for larger centerfire rifles. He would carry it with his 8-3/8" Model 29 S&W. I always wanted one in .357 to go with my Model 19 S&W but Winchester didn't make it in .357 until much later and I don't particularly care for the later production model '94s (Dad's vintage Winchester collecting has rubbed off on me I guess). I may settle for one in 30-30 instead of .357 if a good one comes along but damn they just keep getting more expensive.

AKs are fun in general (unless you want to hang an optic, silencer, white and IR laser/lights, then they get heavy and unbalanced)

ETA - Apologies for the thread slide.
Back to the regularly scheduled programming.

I wish mine was .41 mag so it matched the model 57. Mine always gets the "most fun" award with me and everyone that tries it. Everyone should have one IMO.
