You don't run a rare-earth magnet over all your guns, OP?

My whole collection get the treatment every 30 days without fail.  Even the milsurps and antiques.  Can't be too careful.

I put mine in the microwave. 5 minutes on defrost. Then 90 seconds on high.

Don't worry. If the ATF is involved, it'll be as successful as operation Fast and Furious. They'll only be able to track you for 30 seconds or 30 feet, whichever comes first.

where would they put it? I've got after market stocks on just about all my Fudd guns.
My AR's all have been stripped and most of them have aftermarket furniture on them

Just microwave them.

Duh. I thought everyone knew that.

RFID is normally a near contact to about 3 feet which is bad enough but there are longer range options out to 500 meters.

DefCom #14 had a wonderful presentation by Lukas Grunwald way back in 2006 on the subject.

We discussed "digital fingerprinting" the year before at #13 where the RFID tags on your body (wallet, shoes, belt, embedded alien crystal) emit what becomes a unique digital signal the emanates about 3 feet and can be tracked. Walk up to a cashier and present a credit card and your identification is authenticated to that signature. Other stores seeing that set of RFIDs can reasonably assume it's you and continue to follow you. Some stores would have the resolution to follow your steps department by department, others would just note your arrival, what you bought, and how long you stayed in the shop.

This stuff is +15-years old. (which is why I know it!)

It's been replaced/supplemented by your bluetooth, wifi, and cellular broadcasts pouring from your hip constantly. Those things send an authenticated identification with near meter resolution on your location with the added bonus of also gathering your web searches, text files, and "entertainment" choices. Get the right software installed on the phone and you can turn on the cameras and microphones.

If it were me inside the fiberglass of the furniture of the AR15.

Most don't strip their new rifles* naked and examine every hidden inch of the inside of a new rifle like we do.

*Pick which version works for you.

If it's law attached to the receiver. If you enter a gun range the tags are read and verified in seconds. Gunsmiths would be required recorder/reporters. Get caught without the tag and it's a crime ... whatever doesn't infringe upon the right of we the people to keep and bear arms. Cause if we screw that up I think arms will be very necessary. And those in the government who want to exploit American subject citizens even more will continue to fight to take firearms away from we the people.

I don't have to shoot down an F-16.
