Sometimes a drink of whiskey sounds good, but I have too much respect for alcohol to get back into it right now.

Drunk people annoy the hell out of me now. I do really enjoy waking up without hangovers.

For some reason the only time I feel like drinking is out and about in places like casinos or that kind of scene.

I had alcohol for the first time in a long time, last night.

Argued with my mother and wife soon after.
I apologized....alcohol isn’t for me anymore.

It’s what killed my dad.  I have to stay away from the stuff.

I caught a big whiff of hand sanitizer and had a "I use to drink way worse than that" moment.

I recognize this situation would be so much worse if my life were in the shape it was when I was drinking.  I'm not going back to that hell.

One day or one hour
One minute or one second
Whatever it takes

Staying sober, eh?
It's not for slack jawed faggots
But don't you dare dip

If you want to drink
But don't want to risk drunkness
Avoid the first one

Calling your sponsor
When the urge to drink is high
Shows your commitment

If you want to drink, try writing non-drinking haiku instead.

Sixteen and a half years, think about it all the time.  Gin and Tonic would be nice.  Not worth it.

14+ years and "I" still haven't found a good reason to take a drink, yet. Call a buddy, exercise, watch porn.... anything; but a drink. Tomorrow, you will be glad you stayed sober.

There seems to be a seasonal element.  I've been doing dry january for years and sometimes it goes 3-6 months.  When daylight savings time returns so does my desire to drink which somewhat intensifies as the year progresses and especially when the days get shorter in the fall.  Then I get sick of it again by the time new years rolls around and start the cycle over.

Stay strong OP.  Your body is lying to you when it tells you it needs a drink.

I still want to drink and smoke.

I know a thousand rationals for "I can control it", I know that that is only an excuse.

I sometimes plan to buy some booze and cigars, but I but ammo first.

I have to find a reason not to drink or smoke every day...

... usually that reason is simply not posting stupid shit on this site...

I went 294 days without drinking. Ended my streak a few nights ago, had a casual evening at home with the wife. It was a nice - and much needed - date night for us but I don’t miss drinking. I don’t miss the foggy head and don’t enjoy alcohol like I used to. Even the inebriation is an off-putting sensation. I thought I’d have a new-found appreciation for fine alcohol after a long abstinence - nope. The opposite. I was pretty unimpressed with my previously-impressive Balvanie 14yr Caribbean cask.

At least for me, the alcohol wasn’t satisfying but the time with my wife was. Best to keep my nose clean for this lady. Booze went right back in the cupboard for some other time.

Don't do it, Guys!  You can make this!  If you can stay clean through this horseshit, you can stay clean through almost anything.

Drinking NOW is the worst decision you can make.  THIS is the time to stay sober as all hell!!!!

If you think things are shitty now, just wait until you start hitting the bottle again. If you’ve struggled with alcohol, you can GUARANTEE that your current situation will get infinitely worse by going back to drinking. I don’t struggle with it like others do and I’m still choosing a diet A&W over a cold beer right now. Why do this to yourself? Why go back?

No more than the usual random urges still. I considered adding some alcohol to the preps to bolster the supply of sanitizer, but decided against it. Just don't even want it in the house.

Every single day.

I even had a dream last night where I drank.

I’m almost at a month.

I decided to quit drinking at a PERFECT time to day drink for a month or two.

But I didn’t drink today, and I reckon I won’t drink tomorrow either. Probably.

Many are going to Zoom meetings. Not the same but it's better than nothing. Local intergroups have long lists of meetings that have gone online. Using Venmo to pay the rent.

It has crossed my mind more than once.  Tomorrow.   April 1, will be 2 years smoke free.   And I forget how many alcohol free.   Though I may never be free from it.   I took too many years trying to quit for me to finally get to where I am today.    I just got back from a walk outside.

Nope, not today.   Stay strong to you all.   Boredom is my worst enemy.

My first day without a drink?  Was a scary one.   I had gone so long with it.  I wasn't sure how I was going to do with out it.   So far so good.

I was nervous as hell.   Each and every day it does get easier.  First step is the hardest.

I think I stoped drinking 5 years ago, didnt drink much but just got tired of it, if I wanted a drink I'd have one, but zero desire.

Many of my close friends have had drinking issues over the years, only a few still drink.

The first 24 are hard, it's easy just to keep that usual routine going. The next 3-4 weeks will be a roller coaster of hell but if i cam get through it you can. Don't think ahead, just don't drink today and before you know it a month will be behind you. It feels like for ever but when you look back it seems quick.

Straight will power. Decided I had done enough damage and I didn't want to do it anymore.

No matter what, just don't drink. It takes a bit, but you will feel much better without it.

And expect sleep to suck for a while. That's normal.

I quit when I retired 12/31/18 and have not had a drink since.  I know that drinking would not improve this situation at all.  I can say that I have really no desire for alcohol.  My wife keeps wine in the house and I used to enjoy a glass or six of Cabernet but it just does not appeal to me.
