Who cannot stand city water? I’ve been on a well my whole life and cannot stand city water, bottled water even has a weird “artificial taste”. I’d never thought of myself as one until
I traveled to a few places like Oklahoma (puke worthy fluorided water)

City water is nasty out of the tap

Filtered I don’t have an issue with it

No.  I did recently find out there is such a thing as a water sommelier though.

Nope.  Born and bred on filtered municipal water.

Tried a number of foofy bottled waters, some of them straight up tasted weird with the shit they added.  Just gimme plain water.  Guess I'm just too used to low brow water.

No, city water is fine.  If you THINK it's that bad, get a Brita pitcher.

I drink whatever is closest and coldest. Don't care unless it has a bad flavor. Then I'll move to the next watering hole.

Yep, well water for me.  When I did live in a place with city water, I never could get used to it.

Oklahoma?  It was around the late 50’s I visited Uncle Lester in Ardmore and I’ll never forget the smell and color of the water...oil field area...he supervised a field.

Otherwise I drink tap water no problem and Huntington Beach re-cycles waste water in a world class facility.... water daily for over 300,000 residents...reverse osmosis.

As a backpacker, I have planned entire trips around the access to water. Even here in Penna. And there are places worth hiking to that have exceptionally good springs.

Yes, good water is important.

I drink either the filtered water from my Refrigerator or bottled water that I buy in bulk from Sam's Club. I don't trust water directly from any city tap, other than for showering or brushing your teeth. Back in the 70's we used to visit my uncle and he had an Artesian well. The water was ice cold right out of the tap. It tasted great and was the only time that I drank water directly (unfiltered) from the tap.

My AO in Oregon has some prime city water.  Know for it's quality.  I've traveled the country extensively and maybe some areas of Utah have as good a water as we do.  Most or ours comes off of the mountain from snow melt.  Don't need no stinkin' bottled water......

except in certain circumstances, groundwater requires no treatment due to adsorption to the geological media that compose the aquifer.

surface water OTOH requires an enormous amount of treatment due to its high bacterial, viral, and other contaminant loads.

I grew up with well water but had no problem with the transition. It really depends on variables on both sides. I'd rather drink sidewalk puddle water than Flint tap water. I'd also rather drink Seattle tap water over the temporary groundwater well we dug before the real one.

Best tap water I’ve ever had was in New Zealand. It’s like a bottle of Fiji right out of the hotel sink. Quite mind blowing.

Wa has good water. Where I grew up i know it was all from deep, non surface influenced wells.

Other places arent so lucky, and get their water from reservoirs or shallow wells.
Ive been some places in the midwest that i damn near gagged when i turned the faucet or shower on. A few of them just reeked like it was filtered swamp water or some shit.
I remember if being fkd up too, that no matter how much you scrubbed, still felt slimy. Like it wouldnt even rinse the soap off.

For all the bad things you can say about Chicago, we do have the nation's #1 cleanest water.

Living right next to one of the world's largest supply of fresh water has its advantages.

That’s just an opined list. Berkeley actually does a best tasting water contest, the largest such contest in the world. Hamilton Ohio has won twice, and is always near the top.

It varies a lot, some municipalities do a really good job, and some taste like you are drinking pool water.

My well is great water though, I usually just take a few gallons with me if we go anywhere and drink that.
