Great Lakes Octoberfest is a good martzent Style beer produced domestically.

You guys haven't mentioned a bad beer yet.

Yep, local place started getting the Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier last week and I've been stocking up. It's my favorite mass market beer.

Hopefully Costco got in there pallets of cases of Paulaner. I didn't see them last year and was very disappointed

Bought a 4-pack of this last week...

Not really faithful to the Marzen recipe, but a decent enough beer.

Having this tonight...

Not my favorite, but it holds a special place in my heart since we were at their pub last year in Munich...

Also have some Ayinger sitting around (which is my favorite marzen), but haven't been able to find any Paulaner.

Ayinger marzen is great but at $4 a pint, it should be.

I see a lot of paulaner fans which is pretty good, hacker pschorr marzen imo kicks its ass.

Tucher was the mostly local beer in Erlangen.

Went on a brewery tour of Maisel.

Franziskaner is the only thing decent locally.

I saw Paulaner starting last weekend here, along with a few regional micros.

FYI this stuff is pretty darn good.

@BrewCrew91  like all the folks in this thread, I love Oktoberfest biers and stock up on German ones when they hit the shelves. However, you have my favorite beer of all time in that pic!  St Arnold’s Oktoberfest. It hit the shelves here about a week ago. I grab a half-dozen six packs every time I walk into the store.  And then their Christmas Ale next. And then their Spring Bock until it is gone late Spring.

Great Lakes Oktoberfest is on the shelves, I grabbed a 6-pack of cans the other day, hoping to find 12-packs soon.
Ohio is pretty fucked in the food category but you mofos make up for it in beer.

Hofbrau was actually first imported from Germany in Frankenmuth Michigan not too long ago, which is only about 30 minutes away from me so I go there quite often. It is a very cool and fun little town that is modeled after Bavaria. Another cool fact,  "In 1996, Lord Mayor Christian Ude of Germany officially sanctioned the Frankenmuth Oktoberfest celebration, making it the only city outside of Munich to receive such an honor." Frankenmuth has the only "officially sanctioned oktoberfest" in the United States. Almost all the buildings in Frankenmuth are German style looking. Even the local Mcdonalds and banks. But also, to the couple people saying it's too early for Oktoberfest beer. It is certainly not. Oktoberfest is actually in the middle of september and by october, it's pretty much over.

That looks a lot like Helen, a small town in north GA all done up in Bavarian style architecture. It is a tourist trap full of trinket shops, candy stores, and beer halls. They have an Oktoberfest too in the festival hall, fun thing to do once. I enjoy the food and the beer but the crowds in the fall when the leaf peepers roll in keep me away.
