Then I will take the mandated plate and power it off a 12v constant supply and it will just stay in my garage for eternity.

Easy enough to find a seperate way of displaying the plate information and passing it off as the "new new" without it being connected to govt bullshit.

5 vehicles and only one of my vehicles has the license plate front/back.   Nunber of times pulled over in 8 years for the front plate violation?  Zero.

This.

Of course, having the plate probably means there is a violation written into the statute which requires the plate to be mounted on its vehicle at all times.

Let's see...
Uses cell signal for communication to change what's displayed
Uses cell signal for location tracking
.Gov doesn't want them because tracking
Goal to create jobs (by making everyone buy them, thus siphoning $$ from those who have to selected companies)

Yeah, looks like everything a socialist/communist government wants and nothing they don't.
Get your citizens engaged in travel to wear a billboard you can change to anything you want?
Get your citizens to carry around a location tracking device, but exclude government from it?
Get to funnel your citizens' money into hand-picked contracts for kickbacks?

Of fucking course they think it's a good idea. Jebus...

If you really want to stick it to the government spoof the plate number of some politician or a government vehicle  then hit the pay by plate toll lanes.
Which is exactly what someone from Silly-Con valley will end up doing.

Better yet. The plates look like weatherproof tablets. Wait until those get stolen and turn up in the hood.

Of course.

After thinking about this a little bit, the potential for 'abuse' is so high I really want it to catch on just for shenanigans.

Ive been pulled over 3 times for no front plate. LASD, LAPD, LAXPD
Once in personal vehicle, cause the cop didn't see the plate. Twice in company vehicle that had the plate sheared off in an accident.

Nice. Maybe if the car blows a stop sign, or speeds, the plate flashes until pulled over and ticketed. Maybe it flashes red if the driver owns a firearm, then the officer can open fire, because they will reasonably have cause to be in fear for their lives.

Nothing to see here.

No shit.  There's a GPS on my cruiser.  It monitors my location and speed both in real time and it's history can be reviewed.  Since I only drive it when I'm working, I don't give a shit.  If the city wants to monitor where I go and how fast I get there while on their dime and in their vehicle, then they can have at it.  Now if they wanted the same access to my POV I'd tell them to eat a dick.

I'm torn.

If it's registered, it's registered... but then why have the tag if not to put the stickers on?

Also, the only reason I put the stickers on is to not give cops a reason to pull me over. Yeah, they probably ran the plate and can see I'm not expired, but on the other hand, if I didn't put the stickers on it I could ask to just get a ticket for not putting the stickers on.

My sarcasm is dialed up pretty high in that post. Pretty much everyone from rural Nevada here should get tagged a "sovereign" by ARF's moderates. We don't like picking up cans.

ETA: Non functional/malfunctioning license plate will be yet another pretext stop. Even funnier, they will probably still require your license plate lights to be functional.

Pulled over for a license plate out, fined for:

Driving without a plate
Driving with an obscured/obstructed plate
failure to display registration on plate
faulty vehicle equipment
inability to provide insurance (will be tied to plate somehow, unless oppressed minority)
white privilege

used as probable cause to impound and search vehicle

It'll be fun to see how they hold up with all those wrecks

Got pulled over pretty much weekly in a company vehicle a while back for the missing sticker. Every cop pretty much said, “yeah, I ran it. I know it’s good, but I pulled you over cause it isn’t there”.

No tickets, but it was starting to get annoying.

It isn't a biggy without the sticker as long as you paid for the sticker. I went a whole year once and didn't realize I never put the sticker on until I got the next new sticker, pullet out the old reg, and the old new sticker was still on there on the backing stapled to it.
