If you made your coffee at home you could save about $390 a year.

That's a lot of $20 scratch offs.

All better now. Minor springtime glitch.

Can't take a little gentle ribbing? Gas station coffee is bad.

Eh. It's more of a market than a gas station I guess. It's got a cafe in it where the old timer locals sit and shoot the shit in the mornings. Every Wednesday (a day off for me) I go in and join them for about an hour. Although I'm not retired it's a good hour of conversation and networking. Cup of coffee is a buck with free refills. It's worth it.

Eh, it doesn't bother me. Unlessl I see the people who buy a shitload of scratch-offs, and then uses an EBT card to buy 4 large cans of Redbull and about 15 dollars worth of Little Debbies and candy.

If you are on EBT you should be barred from playing the lottery.

But then again, I am sure that the lottery offices wouldnt make near as much money.

If they can afford them I say go nuts.

I'll randomly get bored and buy some scratch offs, it isn't that often though. Maybe 100-150 bucks a year.

The people I usually see buying them smell like cigarettes and hop into a real shitty ride.

Some dude here won like 8 grand once and it was a huge deal, still drives a total shit box, and still buys the stupid things. There is no way he doesn't have less than 8 grand wrapped up in losing tickets.

Generally no.  I knew this one old dude who would buy the entire roll and scratch off hundreds at a time, then get disappointing when he lost money doing it.  He swore up and down that if you bought enough the winners would outnumber the losers.

He also huffed gasoline on occasion so there's that.

I don't think they have $20 scratchers here.  I've only seen $1, $2, $5, and $10.

The $10 ones are worth it because they have more & bigger prizes.  I only buy a scratcher once in a blue moon, but I've won enough on a couple $10 ones to recoup what I spent/lost (and then some) on all the $1, $2, $5, and $10 ones I've ever bought.

I think it's funny when you see someone scratching a phone book-sized stack in their car in the gas station parking lot, so they can run right back in.  One time I even had a guy in line in front of me buy about 20 of them and then try to stand there and scratch them at the counter while holding up the line.

We have 30 dollar tickets here.

I will get a 5 dollar ticket now and again (ya, I know, "idiot tax") but I think it is fun once and a while. I get entertainment value out of it.

I bought one once, I won $100... I have a thing I always done when find money on the ground, I buy lottery tickets. I never win any other way and it was free money anyways, no real loss.

I usually stop at one of the local chain stores here on the way to work to pick up a few iced teas. There will nearly always be some doofus buying $20 scratch offs and a boat load of the $1 and $2 ones. Saw one guy buy 10 of the $20 ones a few weeks ago.
On top of that, stood at the cashier's counter and started scratching them off. Had to tell him "Excuse me" to get to the cashier.
On top of being an idiot, he decided to be rude enough to hold up everyone else.

I find it funny that when the government says we went to the moon, everyone here believes it 100%

But if the government says "we don't want to take your guns" people call bullshit and get all bent out of shape

I buy $20 scratch offs and some $50 ones when I'm in Texas.

I've had some decent winners.

To answer your question, I make very few good life decisions.

ETA: I see you are in OH. I actually had my best win on a scratch off there.

This is because there is evidence supporting both the landing and gun control that leads to very bad things.  Whether you choose to recognize it or not.

I heard you can win $100 from a scratch off, which can buy you two twelve packs and a tank of gas, than you can get a 4 day 3 night beach vacation when you're the 5th caller.

I don't think that is always the case.  The act of gambling can be fun if you accept that you are very likely going to lose your money.  It's healthy as long as you are doing it to pay for the thrill and not solely the payout.
