We have a vertical cave that looks very similar here in AZ called Barber Pole.

Good stuff OP.

Keep doing shit like that with your 11 year old and the next thing you know
he is doing ass kicking things for the Army.

Unintended consequences. Ask me how I know?

It's funny you said that as that is what he says he wants to do when he grows up!

2 is one, one is none. What is your plan if it severs? Or the anchor falls away

120' drop! Were there piles of small animal bones on the ground there?

Looks like a treacherous hole to stumble in to.

Not only small animal bones, but we found a cow femur.

Strange that only a femur remained.

As long as the rope isn't running over any identifiably sharp edges, it's going to be fine.  If there are sharp or worrisome edges, simply pad those spots with duct tape, carpet, or a purpose-made velcro-wrap rope guard.

Nobody is going to rig for rope failure.  Or anchor failure.  You rig it so the rope and/or anchors don't fail.

Exactly!
If you rigged 2 ropes and the one you were on failed on you, the 2nd rope isn't going to help stop your fall.

Is there an anchor under that ice, or just burrowed through?

Just two intersecting ice screw holes in a V-shape.  The first rappel anchor was a tangle of frozen nylon webbing around a 4" birch tree up at the top of the cliff, followed by a 3 piton fixed anchor about 50 meters above this last one threaded in the ice.  I think that piton anchor in the middle of the cliff pulled out on a descending party a few years back.  One climber was on it at the time, but he miraculously survived the fall, albeit with significant injuries.  Dude "walked" out on his own power, not wanting to necessitate a rescue.

Going down into the big cavern would be cool. NOPE on squeezing thru little holes.
