IMHO? Yes.

My personal belief is that Jack told him how this all really works. Told him where everything is hidden, told him which closets to look in.

If it's 10% bots and not ~5%?
Cheaper buying price.
It looks like the way this is playing out,  I think it's sort of gonna get exposed that it was a left wing clubhouse and also a media megaphone, which everyone on the right knew -
But it wasn't really public, as in, Joe Q public on the street didn't know that, MOSTLY only we did.
I think he's exposing the facade.

Yep, this. The exposure verifies what WE knew,  but the rest of the general public will forget by July. He has to finish the deal

He can still back out, but between the breakup fee and the loss his stock would take, it would be pretty significant.  Then again, maybe take a hit on the breakup fee, hope the share price tanks, and then make a repriced offer.

Great tycoons in American history had fuck you money. They used it to crush their enemies. True fuck you money is rarely seen in American history.

But we’re seeing it now, used for the good of our nation.  And I dare say the world. Twitter was/is the modern day printing press, and it was used for evil.

Elon buying Twitter will be written about in history and impact as the printing press.

@transplanted

Back in the old timey days we had to load software on our computers to use the internet. Well, not necessarily to use the internet but to connect to whoever our internet provider was so they could give us access to the internet. Discs for AOL usually came bundled with a new computer, plus AOL sent them out as junk mail so every couple of weeks you’d get an AOL disc (a CD) in the mail.

The CDs only came in after a long campaign of floppies. The floppies could at least be re-used, if I recall correctly.

IIRC someone has said, he'd have like, break a deal, and THAT would cost him money, to re-negotiate at a lower price.
I think he's hinting at that ^ with his tweets about "owning the libs being expensive."

He might do it.
If price A is - his original offer
Price B is - a big penalty for backing out + the NEW lower offer, BUT he saves money on Price B?

This is essentially what I said earlier. Musk has people in the know feeding him information. He's too smart to put this much money up unless he already knows the answer.

Dorsey's sudden exit is still unexplained.

During the "Orange man bad" years, there was probably a huge groundswell in Twitter, saying "WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING!!!!"

What I think may have happened is that Dorsey allowed a Golem to be created with bots, shadowbans, and "trending tools," and as all Golems do, it served their purpose for a while.

It didn't take long for the wokes to realize the power that the Golem had to push their narrative, and silence any dissent. So they fed it. Then they wrapped the entire business around the Golem.

Now it's the Golem that really runs twitter, under the hood anyway.

Now it's to the point that they are misrepresenting the true value of the company to the shareholders by under-reporting bots and other deeply manipulative activity.

The Golem is now so central to Twitter, and playing such a key role, that removing it entirely is no longer possible. Especially right now - changing their user counts by what could be some 35-50% with a purchase in play would kill the deal, send people to jail, and burn the whole company down.

Dorsey probably said something like:  "Guys, I'm not going to jail for this... we gotta stop it..."

And their reply was probably something like:  "Okay white male, if you don't like it, you can leave and we'll appoint this chubby vegetarian indian guy in your place."

A good lawyer never asks a question he doesn't already know the answer to.

Musk knows exactly what's doing here.

I've LONG felt that we've given up a lot, when we collectively abandoned them. And a lot of other things. I'm not kidding, when I insist that we'll collectively look back at the Internet prior to about 2008, and go..."Aw, shit. We fucked up".

Agreed.

It's like discussion being shifted from local pubs to massive stadiums, where the stadium authority determines what you see and whose voices are heard.

I always have this in the back of my mind.
