I was just young enough not to be brutally subjugated to that decade.
The most I remember was being in kindergarten and having a dark red denim jacket that was part of the Winnie the Pooh line at Sears (remember Sears had Winnie everything). Brown suede hushpuppy shoes, yes like in the Jimmy Buffet song. Then we got the 80's and my mother tried to get me into the topsiders with no socks. Yeah, no. |

Bell bottom Levis, Frye boots, drag racing or RonJon Surf Shop t-shirts, big-ass belt buckles, corduroy vests and leather fringe jackets for the win! Paisley shirts were popular if you were dressing up a bit.
I remember at one time there was a fad where people would insert a triangle of fabric into the bells of their bell bottoms to make the bell bigger. Brown inserts in denim bells was big. |

Me and my brother in 1974. I was 7 and he was 5. Mom was 32 in this pic and holding my 2yr old brother. Shes still around and I think shes 81 years old now. Lost Dad in 2001 at age 64.

Keg parties in the woods/orange groves,lots of muscle cars still around,no fat girls and plenty of mood altering substances.Drinking age in Florida was 18 then but if you were 16 and had the money that was close enough. |
