Update 2/24
Frantic Friday.....  We are at 71 sold and $1140 raised so far. I think today is going to be too crazy. We are running out of bondo at the moment, so I'm going to race down and grab some this morning so we can continue refining the cowlings.  They are looking pretty dang good.  We are adding a bit of contour adjustment to the area above the cockpit windows. There should be some slight straight edges there.  With a bit of caulking to smooth out the back edges, this should give us that slight bit of detail we need.  I've got one student who has taken on all the details on the cargo doors. It's a lot of work.  With our wing mounts pretty solid, we can start to get our finishing skin and contours done up top.  "Thermal camera pod" getting more sculpting. I ordered some clear christmas balls this morning that should give us the start of a lens. We might try messing around with making our own. We've done some small stuff, pressing something round into hot acrylic, not sure we can do one 3" or not.  |

Well there is a little bump in our numbers.  Just got done putting in the student/faculty order. The more we sell, the greater the profit per shirt. Next bump for cost per shirt is at 200 shirts! We have a whole crew today! Nozzle with a little paint on it.  Glued to the door.  Caulking going on to smooth out some edges on the glass frames.  More paper mache on the cowlings.  The Dragon Egg drone fuselage.  Ceramic frog added to the display.  |

Looks we are stuck on 150 sold and $1860 raised. We may look at ending it a little sooner, near the end of this week, so people can get their shirts sooner.
Progress was good on many fronts yesterday with everyone here. We have a a little more sanding and bondo work to do on the cowlings before we can add paper mache over top. This may seem redundant, but It will ensure the texture looks the same as the rest of the cowling and wing. We decided we needed a bit more foam on some steep contours on the bottom intake.   Our Smokejumper platform finally got more progress. Wheels are being printed for winding up and down the jumpers.   Still have a couple more smaller jumpers to finish up, and two of the big chutes are still in production.  Wing flaps nearing finished with the internal structure.  Other than being a bit off center.....  We will fix that today; we have our Smokey The Bear sign up. The smoke plume got more paint yesterday, and you can see the Blackwater Creek fire mural starting on the left side.   The Granite Mountain Hotshots mural continues.   More ceramic animals being added here and there.  As for the "One foot in the black" graphic, here are a couple pictures from different angles. We need to get the white spotter marks removed.    |

There we go...
152 Sold and $2010 Raised! I've been working with Custom Ink on the design problem. They don't want us to use the clipart tower, so we took some pictures of our tower, and they modified them a bit to fit the design. We still have one muff up(out of alignment thing) on the design that they are working to fix, but the fundraising website now has the updated graphics with the new tower.

I remember when the letters were outlined but not filled, and that sort of look but with more contrast was pretty cool. That's an option of course, it does grab attention though. Overall looking awesome, as usual! |

Update 3/1 1st day of Spring in WY.......right?
 Happy child wanted in the picture. We moved some lights under the smoke a bit yesterday. We will add a bit more smoke at the base of the flames so the lights aren't so visible, but its a better look. New frame on our Smokey sign, and re-centered.  Some PPE for our safety enthusiasts.  Yeah, I know, not perfect, but this allows us to show off the portrait a bit better. ARFCOM BFL sticker on the back of the helmet is also visible this way.  We have a bit more security work to do on the pulaski tool today. It's glued into the hand, but we are going to screw it to the hand, and then tether it to the belt.  Cowlings are getting closer. We are working on getting motor mount platforms inside today. Building up the outer rim a bit to make it square, before we cover it with 1/4" plywood that will have a bushing in it to support the propeller shaft.  Exhaust ports getting lined out, and paper mache going over the bondo.  Little dome thingy on top of the fuselage.  More contour at the top of the fuselage wing root area.  The rework on the wing to add flaps is almost done. Finally.  And because we don't have enough going on..... a bear rug being put together yesterday. No, he can't be in the display. It's a former student's bear. His daughter is not a freshman in my beginning class.
