Sometimes full tractor trailers pull up and unload pallets of stuff direct. |

 You might recognize this student. He couldn't make his schedule fit the one time during the day that I could fit him into my class. He was a major contributor to the last couple projects. He is an office aid during my prep hour. He was pretty bummed that he couldn't take Art again this year. I felt bad, but there was just no more room the hour he could make it work. Anyway, he has been reminding me almost every day he is mad. Today he just delivered more packages, and was so excited to see what was donated, he asked if he could open the box. @Sixtigers, he opened the stapler.    I'll let 7th hour open the rest of them.

I think what I'm seeing this year is the shocking existence of A Plan. No weeks of being stuck not knowing what to get to work and having things not work then re-doing and stuff like that. This year it is all measured and the methods of making normal stuff into display stuff is figured out for warping plastic, molding clay, gluing dirt down, building small models then large models, installing rivets or heat tiles, and things like that. It's like there wasn't even a day of discussing what the mural should be, it just turned into a giant fire plume in a week. The lookout tower and steps were completed without major errors needing to do it again, and stuff like that.
Guns is getting good at this whole "plan"junk, though it seems to help.

Update 9/21.2
Our moon clock with more progress.  We did some checking for fit yesterday for our burned piles. We also marked where our mounting holes will go. I think the custodian will get those installed today.    We also checked for fit and position for the our corner firefighter tier. The bear platform will sit underneath, as shown.  The hotshot crew tier finding position, and mounting plate location.  Our C-130 is just about ready for 3D scanning.  Future flames for our fire.   |

Update 9/22
Our Smoke Jumpers coming along, even the little guys.   Getting the boots on our hot shot crew member was a little difficult, and amusing. When they were all done, I told them they forgot his socks. There was much complaining till I told them, I was kidding.    We up these up couple weeks ago, but I forgot to grab a shot of them.  Moon clock needs light areas and details, but she is getting it done pretty quickly.  Hmmmmm........... questionable measurements for mounting screw positions.  Painting will hide our marker lines and allow our burned wood area to be a bit more grounded. "Rabbit brush" will make some pretty convincing burned pine trees on a smaller scale for some of our landscape tiers.  We are working to get our two remaining walls built on our lookout tower. We secured the 4th corner temporarily. It will all come apart to go around the support pole.  |

We did an Earth clock for the Martian landscape display, and a moon clock for the space shuttle. It's just a clock painted to look like the moon.

Giving really pretty sunsets while still releasing less CO₂ than all the politicians burn in jet fuel every year.

Update 9/23 Frantic Friday Edition
Our C-130 is just about ready for 3D scanning....   We had to add an extension to our mannequin, as the stand was a little short with the boot on. We had a piece of steel tubing that fit over the aluminum and we welded a few inches of rebar on the end of that so it now works.  Our custom hair on our action figures is getting a little color.... Mr. Munger looks pretty good.  @Sparks556 and a couple other figures are now in the works.  We are close to having the 4 walls of the lookout tower up, and ready for "glass".  The smoky moon clock has a few more details now.  Our smoky skies are progressing. We are starting to blend the areas together a bit more before more detailed plumes.  Flowers are turning out amazing.  LED light strips came in yesterday. We had a few runs of installing and pulling back up before we figured out what looked best.  Luckily for us, one of our local LEO's stopped by to say hi and had a great suggestion for creating "coals". He's got quite the artistic side to him and spent many hours down in our classroom helping build the stagecoach when he was the SRO. Little plastic with black paint brushed back over works well.  Finally, a HUGE THANK YOU! to "Ross" one of our Investors. He sent us this magazine with some cool stickers for students and some awesome patches and stickers to go with our display.     He also sent us this cool pic of one of our sweatshirts out in the wild.

Wouldn't be making art with Sherwin Williams finishes for damn sure. That's the thinking/ behavior of the display contests making new rules to shut gun's projects out since he would sweep most all of the awards. Those aren't "art teachers" when they strictly define what art is and they are the final say so on if something is art or not and everybody has to agree with them. Sort of like archeologists and age of the earth/mankind they're the final answer despite lots of evidence otherwise. The other art teachers nationwide should come up with ideas and push a gofundme to finish their display. I'm sure local communities would help, though the school would probably try to hijack funds to pay for sports or something, need to get that worked out since a school running in the red perpetually wouldn't let $500 go only to the art class. |

We are at a finishing point for many of the regular projects, so we are critiquing this week, which is hampering progress on the project. Updates may be a bit slow.  First, @Rocketman89408 THANK YOU FOR THE GENEROUS DONATION! We got a new blade on our saw immediately. The dremel kits will be seriously helpful. Yes, I have some interesting students that like to photobomb.  My "delivery student" insisted on being able to open up the new donations. Not sure why, he just gets mad and leaves.   We did get our mannequin stand modified and working with a little extension.  More details on our moon clock.  We began adding lights to the second pile of burned wood.   Our firefighter landscape tier got a little sanding on the rocks. We will continue to scrape up and lighten them before staining again.  We have more paint on our walls for the mural.  Our rocks are starting to get a few details. We will have to refine them a bit as they all come together.   More plume painting.  |

I am glad you got a new blade on the saw. That one with broken teeth was dangerous.
Happy to help out in some small way. You being an art teacher is like a science teacher I had 50 years ago in high school. At any time we had over 10 different kinds of snakes including rattlesnakes in the classroom. Rats, mice kangaroo rats, fish, lizards and desert tortoises. I will never forget Mr. Roberson. |

I have something from my high school art teacher - he was a pen and paper artist, and when he brought in examples of what it looked like, one was two B-24s in flight. I bought it from him for $5, and still have it hanging in my home office today. He passed on years ago, thank you Mr. Faust.
