Yup, Friday afternoon we were off. Sometimes they get dropped off at the central admin/facilities building, and then dispersed by a school district mailperson. It's hard to guess how we will get stuff. Sometimes, the big brown truck pulls up and delivers right to the main office. Sometimes......not. Sometimes full tractor trailers pull up and unload pallets of stuff direct. |

I think what I'm seeing this year is the shocking existence of A Plan. No weeks of being stuck not knowing what to get to work and having things not work then re-doing and stuff like that. This year it is all measured and the methods of making normal stuff into display stuff is figured out for warping plastic, molding clay, gluing dirt down, building small models then large models, installing rivets or heat tiles, and things like that. It's like there wasn't even a day of discussing what the mural should be, it just turned into a giant fire plume in a week. The lookout tower and steps were completed without major errors needing to do it again, and stuff like that.
Guns is getting good at this whole "plan"junk, though it seems to help. |

I wonder if your 3-D scan would be improved if you painted little reference squares in strategic places - wing tips, wing root, etc.

But in this context, it's an actual time telling clock that's been painted to resemble a full moon seen through the smoke haze of a forest fire. |

I went back to the first seven pages and found no explanation. All of the normal school clocks in the hallways get a makeover when we do a display in them. We did an Altimeter clock last year. We did an Earth clock for the Martian landscape display, and a moon clock for the space shuttle. It's just a clock painted to look like the moon. |

I went back to the first seven pages and found no explanation. @deuce_22 Whenever there's a big or several small forest fires going, all the states to the East of them get the blood red moon from the smoke in the sky, sometimes with plumes still obscuring parts of the moon in some photos. Giving really pretty sunsets while still releasing less CO₂ than all the politicians burn in jet fuel every year. |

She loved the idea and topics. I'ts really nice to have that kind of support from your co-workers, when you know they know how annoying the process can be over the whole year. With the number of power tools and robotic interactive displays, we're going to need to donate for a gas turbine genset to offset the power lost by providing grid peak relief in exchange. |

So I'm 8 pages late to this thread, but for future reference you can sometimes find older model kits cheaper on Ebay or even kit lots you can bash together. Oldmodelkits dot com has a good variety of out of production stuff as well.

View Quote My favorite teachers in high school and college were the Physics teachers. Very open to ideas and explained in detail why something wouldn't be a good idea and would listen to input rather than just shut anybody who disagreed out because they didn't have the sheepskin yet. Seems may high school art teachers other than Guns are the "Fine Art" type and paintings are only good if drawn by hand without any assistance or copying a photo since that's not "creating art" and other such bullshit. I suppose they only want the kids to learn how to draw and paint because graphite or colored pencils, charcoal, and gouache or watercolor are the absolute cheapest art materials available if they're on a budget, though a lot are using Tempera and not even gouache or watercolor. Though watercolor needs "expensive paper" (25¢/page) so it's only for select students rather than to let people play and see what turns out of it. Wouldn't be making art with Sherwin Williams finishes for damn sure. That's the thinking/ behavior of the display contests making new rules to shut gun's projects out since he would sweep most all of the awards. Those aren't "art teachers" when they strictly define what art is and they are the final say so on if something is art or not and everybody has to agree with them. Sort of like archeologists and age of the earth/mankind they're the final answer despite lots of evidence otherwise. The other art teachers nationwide should come up with ideas and push a gofundme to finish their display. I'm sure local communities would help, though the school would probably try to hijack funds to pay for sports or something, need to get that worked out since a school running in the red perpetually wouldn't let $500 go only to the art class. |

I have something from my high school art teacher - he was a pen and paper artist, and when he brought in examples of what it looked like, one was two B-24s in flight. I bought it from him for $5, and still have it hanging in my home office today. He passed on years ago, thank you Mr. Faust.
